Expert 5K+ Posts: 7805 Location: Williams California | Anyone heard from Brent this week? I drove up past Spokane last week to pick up a car, and we were going to meet up for lunch afterwards. There was a terrible windstorm the night before, 100 MPH wind, many trees were toppled, roofs torn off, and lots of accidents on the road. I tried calling, and left PM's here, but no reply. Perhaps it's a matter of the power still being out there, but it still raises concern. ---John

Like Don said, he's probably out there hustling car show trophies - or pickin' out red paint for his Fireflite. I like this thread. A good roast for a friend who temporarily can't defend himself. Expert Posts: 1287 | Mike -- I thought I saw him in Motor City trying to trade his DeSoto even-steven for a baby blue 1999 Miata. He was telling the salesman, "Look this is a classic. They don't make 'em like this anymore." To which the salesman replied, "Thank God!" Joe

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9604 Location: So. Cal | I'm sure the Doc is just busy installing wire wheels, fury trim, a benrus clock, fuzzy dice & a mirror-matic on his Plaza. He's finally seen the light of bling and is in a transformation stage. He'll emerge at any moment to show off his new goodies. It is either that or he has been doing the tango with Afghans again. Either way, it is going to be fun when he finally emerges.

Expert Posts: 2002 Location: Branson, MO | I like "Doc" - his comments are entertaining regardless of whether they are pro or con, he is knowledgeable about these FL cars and is very helpful, lets it be known what he likes and dislikes without any gray area, and, this is very important, he actually posted something complimentary regarding my '59 DeSoto Firesweep 4 door sedan! Hurry back Doc.......we miss you! "It's delightful, it's delovely, it's DeSoto" Edited by Viper Guy 2015-11-27 10:18 PM

Location: Parts Unknown | The Doctor is in. Yeah, we had a windstorm, alright ! Tore the #@! roof right off my shop and made chop suey of the power grid. Without power for 7 days and still only have spotty web access via a backdoor wi-fi access. Things are getting back to normal around town, but every contractor in town has a 6 month backlog of work now ! With no power at home or at work, I grabbed my logging gear and spent a week cutting trees off of houses and clearing roads, etc. It was a helluva mess. Somehow, I got my roof peeled 100% and wrapped the whole lid the day before another snow came - whew ! Now, temps are hovering in the low twenties/high teens and I will just hope for a mild winter (wind-wise) to allow the tarping to do it's job until warm weather allows a proper roof installation. Thanks for the "roast". Got a good laugh. I may be "opinionated", but freely admit that opinions are like axxholes ..... everybody has at least one ! Mine is just another fart in the great chorus of flatulence.

Location: Parts Unknown | Many had it far worse than I did. Most of these stupid fools getting hit with trees because they thin them (leaving those remaining to take the full force of the wind) or they water them, causing the trees to not put down long tap roots like they would naturally, OR just the obvious planting of non-native species like spruce that act like giant sails and have a naturally shallow root "footprint". The storm really tore these up and dropped them on every possible power line in my zip code area - which was the worst hit of the entire storm - or on houses, shops, cars, etc. The night OF the storm, roads were so blocked with trees, downed power lines, smashed cars that I had to zig-zag all over the place to find clear paths, driving across lawns and using sidewalks just to get home. It was crazy ! The next morning, I got up at dawn, ran out to Cheney (about 20 miles away) and got my chainsaw, chokers, drop lines, etc. and came back into town to help those who had REAL messes on their hands. No sense staying home or going to work. Power was out everywhere.
