Hey Guys, I started the 360 eng. tear down today. I got ready to push the pistons out and noticed the rod position #'s don't match the cyl's they should be in. Left bank front to rear is 3, 5, 7, 1. Right bank front to rear is 4, 6, 8, 2. 3 & 4, 5 & 6, 7 & 8, 1 & 2, are on same crank journal as they should, just in the wrong location. Now I'm wondering if there is a reason for this or if I could go ahead in install them in the correct positions. I've built a lot of engines, B and RB's. never seen anything like this before. I plan to change pistons to a 9.5 CR. It's probably 8.4 now. I measured the distance from top of piston to top of block and got .160" I wonder how much of that will be left with a 9.5 piston. The heads are open chambered. Anyway, does this have something to do with LA engines or did someone screw up? Jerry
