Did anyone in the Heartland Region - particularly Oklahoma City, OK - attend the Leake Auction on February 19, 20, and 21?
There was a 1958 Dodge Coronet Lancer D500 there and I wondered if anyone saw it.

Wow! This is the same car (trailer queen) that my street driven '59 DeSoto Firesweep 4 door sedan took first place over at the Show-Me MoPar judged car show in Columbia, MO last June on Father's Day.

I went to the link shown in the first post above. Initially I thought this auction was this year (2016) but it turned out the date was for 2015 which was over a year ago and the high bid was $40K. Doesn't say whether it sold or not but my thoughts are that it didn't sell or there might have been a "SOLD" indication instead of "High Bid". In any event, $40K is a lot of money but might be very competetive for an all original car like this.

Hmmm.....

That's odd! This was advertised in last month's Hemmings. I think the auction was 2016. Maybe it was just a typo on the webpage?

I just went to the link again to see if there was any change and it shows Feb. 20-23 Oklahoma City 2015. Don't know what else to say.

Maybe Hemmings ran a year-old auction advertisement? Stranger things have happened! I guess the other possibility is that the auction company sent Hemmings the wrong advertisement. I double checked the issue date. It does seem we had a thread about this car perhaps a little more than a year ago.

Ah-Ha!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dodge-Coronet-Coronet-1958-dodge-coronet-su...
I did some checking on this car and it was on eBay and received a bid of about $75K but didn't sell. I read somewhere else on one of these threads where the car was for sale priced at $100K.
Gosh, now it makes me feel real good about the quality of my '59 DeSoto. I'll bet that guy was totally deflated when my car was announced as the class winner! Unfortunately I never got to talk to him as his car was on the trailer the whole time during the show and was only taken off the trailer for the drive through judging. As soon as the judging was done, it went back on the trailer never to be seen again. And as I stated earlier, my car is driven and it was driven 150 to the show and 150 miles home that day.

These two pictures of the Dodge are the ones I took during the drive through judging in Columbia, MO at the Show-Me MoPars annual Father's Day car show June 2015.

Interesting, J. F. ! This car has done a fair bit of travel. Looks like its home was (is?) Mississippi, but it has obviously been to Missouri and Oklahoma recently. I wonder where else this one has been - or where it is now?

Yes, it is interesting and I wonder where this car will show up again, if it does. I have no earthly idea where it is now. I will admit that the car is a super nice automobile and has a value greater than my DeSoto based on the 2 door hardtop styling and the D500 package. No doubt about it. But as for condition, that's where my DeSoto shines - I sincerely do not believe there is another factory origninal 57 year old automobile, that has not been moth-balled, in the factory original condition mine is and that is the reason I purchased the car about a year ago at a fraction of the $100K asking price for the Dodge. And the best part is I have fun with it - I DRIVE it!
