I moved this thread to For Sale-Miscellaneous, since it's post-FL.

its not post FL go read Wikipedia and talk to the engineers at Chrysler.

That back end is right out off the Dodge Phoenix/pioneer in 1960-61... thats FWL?

The ford guy had to use a FWL holdover in 63 to get a full size back out the door... Not until 64 did he get to really non exner the line.

Thusly the 63 Dodge custom is the last FWL car, its got tell tale signs of the fins.

I believe the Custom 880 for '62 and '63 used the '62 Chrysler Newport shell and rear quarters. As previously posted earlier somewhere on this site, it was determined that Forward Look cars were the 1955 through 1961 models as determined by the board. I believe this was much due to the fact the Forward Look was no longer featured in 1962 advertising and the Pentastar was to be the new logo which appeared for the 1963 models.

Dodge was caught in 62 without a full sized car so they put the Polara front end on a Newport and called it a 880. The difference between an 880 and a custome 880 was trim on the dash, a couple of armrests, and the horn ring. 880s are REALLY hard to find, Customs slightly easier. I think that Don Draper was driving one of these in an early episode of Mad Men, and crashed it. The 63 had new front end sheet metal, but was still basically a Newport. The 64 had all new sheet metal except the top, which retained the Exner roof line, and that's about all. I consider the 64 the highest development of the forward look, though it can well be argued that its just an update away from it. Not much from the 63 will interchange with the 64, and the 64 has a more modern feel to it. It still has a great ride, and handles surprisingly well for that big of a car. Note the 64 dodge 880 had the largest rear window ever put in a production car. I have a white 2 dr HT with a 413. In school I had a blue and white 4 dr hardtop with a 361 that only had 7 cylinders working, but I drove it for 3 years. The white one is pretty much finished, except for the darned push button heater control switch problem, but I'm looking forward to good weather and the car shows. The fabulous Dodge Custom 880 gets a lot of attention because it looks like an old mopar but no one knows what it is. There are 3 1964s on ebay right now, and 1 64 convertible. You'll see them every now and then on craigslist. Dodge 880s will ALWAYS be overpriced, and usually WAY overpriced. The Holy Grail in Dodge 880s is the "Dodge" trunk emblem, which was cheap and plastic and fell apart quickly. Standard engine was the 361 1 bbl, but you could get the "Powr-Pak" which was a 383 2 barrel, or a 413 4 bbl. Mine had the 383 but it was dead, so I put a 413 in it because it is cheaper to put in a 413 than to rebuild a 383, and a LOT cheaper. Toss me in that briar patch. I do with the 64 still had the mirror on the dash, but alas they moved it to the top of the windshield. Mine even has the vibratone radio for that "Concert Hall" sound!
