Extreme Veteran Posts: 494 Location: Alberta | I've just received my copy of the build sheet for my 57 D500 "Oh What Feelin" I couldn't imagine that my car was as original D500 I was hopeful and skeptic all at the same time. Now that I have documentation it gives me a great feeling when talking about it. I'm sure others must feel the same with theirs. Thanks to all the members here on the forum for the advice posted and the encouragement to follow through with the paperwork. This car has a lot of options. My '57 Chrysler has a pretty detailed sheet as well. Edited by 57burb 2017-01-26 11:16 PM

Extreme Veteran Posts: 494 Location: Alberta | Ya I didn't have to much history on the car when I bought it other than the previous owners daughter who had inherited the car from her Dad and a daily journal with some notes and names of the past owners here in Canada I spent most of last winter trying to contact one fellow by leaving messages with his Aunt to have him call me and you know how that goes over on a cold call by a stranger, I didn't expect to much there. In the interim I had call from guy from south of Vegas I believe inquiring about the car and wondering if it could be his old car [I had in Advertised in Hemmings then] he said he had sold his to someone from Canada years back but his was all White when he owned it. Then in May I received a call from this fellow Robert who I had left the message to call me, at that time he said he had bought the car south of Vegas in the early 80's but couldn't remember exactly or you from at the time. Then the other gent who's name I have in the journal called me out the blue saying a friend of his had told him I might have his old 57 so he came out to my place [8hr drive] to see it and gave me some pictures of it when he bought it...you guessed it was White he had it painted to the colour code of the car while he owned it and had the engine freshened up unfortunately someone then put chrome valve covers on it and an air cleaner and painted the engine but the numbers on the engine still match the build sheet. I have since acquired another D500 Hemi engine still original and in running condition with the factory 4bbl WCFB carb and air cleaner which I intend to swap over to this D500. It came with exhaust deflectors also as you see and someone threw them away when they redone the exhaust sometime ago.So there you go long story short yes it is the original engine. Expert Posts: 1906 Location: Ontario, Canada | Glen, this is amazing! D500, special visors and spinner wheel covers!!! There are a lot of "wannabes" but not many real ones out there! I've only seen one other coded with special visors and I have been doing this for more than 35 years! Congratulations! Greg

Greg Thanks Greg this is probably the most I've ever talked about my car on the forum,I'm always following the members here and I now can actually relate to original and feel it when I talk about it, much to my surprise I must add cause that wasn't the intent when I bought it.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 494 Location: Alberta | Hi, This is the one Dave from Ottertail MN has had for a couple of years I talked to him about it last year he was asking $17500 then I think or somewhere around that price. He bought that car out of Montana and it caught my eye when he mentioned that in his ad. There was a salvage yard at Whitetail Montana and I was wondering if he bought it there but he wouldn't say if I remember correctly. The yard got cleaned up during the Bakken Boom a few years back. Anyway I grew up just 7miles north of that yard on the Canadian side and I believe that car was a local to that area belonging to a fellow by the name of Mike Bartole but then again I could be wrong. I'm interested if it was the same car I don't remember the scrap yard guys name but there is a video on youtbe on it when it existed I think they say it's outside of Plentywood. If that's where it came from then I could possibly dig up some history. Mike had some relatives on the Canadian side and always drove that car or one like it up to visit that's what inspired my love for that car.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 509 Location: Whetstone, Arizona | RUSTORICHES , I'm unsure of that engine stamping you asked in the PM...I will talk to Bo Malefors on Monday (I work for him)...he is a 57-59 mopar Guru....I was searching the web on that car too for a while before taking the plunge...I found out it was owned by a older gent, and his son had it listed for sale here on FL.net before Dave bought it from him...there are pics floating around on here when the old guy still owned it, his user name is "sjmooer" if you do a user search the old threads will come up Edited by arizona mopar gold 2017-01-29 1:16 PM

Extreme Veteran Posts: 494 Location: Alberta | The fellow's bifocals at the factory were foggy that morning the 5/S looked the same…….from a distance. I'm not clear did they include the build card Imagine they did I couldn't separate mine it the e-file to include it here to many big bytes to download. Edited by RUSTORICHES 2017-01-29 2:13 PM

Expert Posts: 2905 Location: little rock, AR | It looks like it was stamped twice but I'm seeing faint images of other #'s. Nice '57 D-500. To own any year D-500 is special. I was able to buy the only D-500 that came up. Mine is a '59 and I need to order the documentation even though I found the build sheet and was able to discuss this car with Neil Vedder before we lost him. Neil had a passion for the D-500 cars.
