Plenty of EFI 'kits' on the market and they should all provide a performance bump. The question is "how deep are your pockets" ? Start searching.

FI Tech Has one for $720 with rebate until May 31. It is good to 400HP . You will need a fuel pump too. Marc.

FI Tech has a Command Center fuel pump available that solves a lot of the pump problems associated with FI swaps. I highly recommend their products.

Awhile back I read a test that was done, carbs vs fuel injection. The injection gave you easier starting and a little better mileage ie better driveability but in top end horsepower, there was almost no difference. This was comparing one of these injection "kits" to a carb. Of course MPFI could make more power but that would b difficult to engineer.

Starting and drivability is what I was looking for when I did my FI swap, and I got it.

I think I'm going to have to look into doing the swap just so I don't have to mess with the carb.and I am going for better drive ability.i don't care about fuel consumption or I would have bought a Honda civic.

I've had a FiTech system on order for my 493 since March. People that have them seem happy with the results on BB Mopars. I'll post results if it ever shows up!

Is FiTech just slow to ship or are they swamped with orders and unable to meet demand?

Swamped: The Summit site showed 6 weeks or so out if you order now. Marc.

I think they're growing too quickly to meet the demand.

I ordered one just before Easter and received it the first week of May. It's installed and wired, but I'm waiting for a fuel filter before I'll run it. Should have it in a day or two and then I'll see how it runs.

Steve,

Yes, it is on the Imperial. I plan to provide a detailed review of the FITech unit and my new SS fuel tank with electric pump once I have an opportunity to try it all out.

A couple of questions for you guys running these.

Do you have, or have heard of any reliability issues with the ECU mounted to the top of the motor? The heat and vibration from the motor seems like a bad combo for an ECU.

Most controllers require a CDI ignition system and prefer a distributor made for fuel injection because of electrical noise issues in dealing with the older ignition systems. How does the Fitech work with the older systems? Does it control timing well?

Throttle body injection of the past provided poor performance compared to direct port injection. Do you see typical TBI issues with these things? How consistent are the oxygen sensor readings?

Thanks, I really need fuel injection for my Lancer because original fuel distribution & carbs for the slant 6 are poor at best. I notice that they do sell a direct port injection version, which I am considering for it.

I talked to a tech at FITech before I bought one of their units. They've basically made a self tuning Chevy TBI unit in one small package. Chevy produced millions of vehicles with this same basic setup, which proved to be very reliable. Most of the key components are GM parts or variations of GM parts so they are very affordable and easy to attain. Systems are available with and without timing control, just keep in mind that the ECU cannot self tune the timing if you do opt for timing control, you would have to input your desired timing curve. I would recommend you visit their website and read their installation instructions, they have about 10 different wiring diagrams depending on ignition system setup.

Some of the other features I like about the system include bumping up idle speed when the AC is on and controlling the electric radiator fan.

Yes: near the collector, so it will be hidden if you offset it to the inner side of the exhaust pipe/collector. The new Mopar Muscle (Aug. '16) has an article on a dual quad setup from FI Tech. Marc.

Fuel filter finally arrived last night, so I installed it right away. Turned the key on and the electric pump kicked on for about 5 seconds and shut off. I turned off the key and carefully checked for leaks and repeated this procedure 3 times. Went through the initial setup procedure on the handheld controller, turned the key and it fired up immediately, just like a new car. I don't think the engine made a full crank revolution before it started. The best part was it stayed running right at 900 RPM without me jabbing the throttle until it warmed up a little bit. Throttle response was much better. I only ran it for about 10 minutes and haven't taken it down the road as it isn't street legal, but I'm already happy with how much better the car runs. I cannot wait to go for a ride, but there is much else to do and a lot of wiring to clean up. So far, so good.

Sounds like a winner. Jon, you should update your Imperial thread with pics of the car now.

I purchased one of these Fitech units with the fuel commander tank a couple weeks ago. It should arrive in a month or two.... and then we'll see how well it works on the slant 6 in my '61 Lancer. If I don't like it, I may swap it over to the DeSoto instead and put a direct injection system on the slant. That's the plan anyway.
