Hello all,

Yesterday I brought home my 5th Forward look. Its a 1958 Coronet 4 door sedan. I knew off the bat this car did not have a title, and that the original 325 Poly was no good. (threw a rod but i think it can be saved)

This car is very unusual. Originally a XXX triple Eggshell white car, with Factory A/C, and power steering, jiffy jet washer, 325 Poly but it has the Powerflight trans.  Its a clock and radio delete car.

I traded the car for a 64 Comet I had, that I had done some trading around for. I dont have a whole lot in this 58.. so there is that.

After pulling the carpet out, the front floors and trunk are pretty gone. I know this isnt bad for some of the salt areas up north..

My dilema: i have too many irons in the fire, and this car will either be for parts, or I would be more than happy to sell as one car. Would its oddness intrigue someone enough to redo it?

Here are some pics:

1. Original pics from the CL ad

On the Trailer:

( one drum was seized) This pic you can see the outside of the car is pretty rust free...

Another odd part, this car has the "cartemp" AC. It is factory air, just odd its not Airtemp.

I saw the ad in Maybank for it. Nice find! Marc.

I would think the complete A/C system is worth the original asking price for the car.

Yeah.. And it's all there. I hate to cut up a FL car that could be saved...

wait why did you trade for it? Just to cut it up? Or did you need specific parts off the car? or just to get rid of thel 64 comet. I don't price an AC system at 1800$. I guess its just who you know. If you bought it just to cut it up, it probably worth 2000$ in parts. You might make a little parting it out but thats alot of time/shipping/effort. front end bumpers/fenders/hood, ac, power steering, some interior are the big parts That is almost a car to save, put some quick floors in it, swap the engine get it running and sell for 2k. But you need a title. Thats not cheap I guess? File for a lost title maybe. Does it have a vin tag?

Initially yes I was just going to part it out, between my 57 Desoto, and my friends FL cars, (59 Desoto, 57 Chrysler) we can use a lot of the parts.

After I got the car home and cleaned it up, not sure its a dedicated parts car.

I did not pay $1800 for it. The comet needed a lot of work.

Sure is an odd one. It would be a shame to break up. I am not so sure about the 14,000 mile figure. Maybe 114,000 is right. My Mayor would have a cow if another forward look car showed up on my driveway. Darn. Marc.

Ha I know. I don't buy the 14k thing. The ring ridge in the engine,
Among many things would say otherwise.

It grew on me as we brought it home so I really don't want to part it out unless there's no other choice. It'd be fun to set it running and driving and solid again.

Maybe the original buyer was a deaf, wimpy hothead with a lousy vision...

It's a Texas car. Somebody probably went to the Dodge dealer and said "I want the least expensive car I can get, but it absolutely must have air conditioning!"

I guess my plan is to list in in a few CL cities, see if I get any bites on it. If not, it'll be parts. I hate to do that, but I cant restore her.

That probably right! There are some cheap skates out there. Nice car though. Wish I had $1800 to blow.
