hi im ready to get trim done in my coronet
it has the custom coronet interior the trim cone comes up as custom coronet tan.
sms have sent me the swatches for what they say is my trim.
theyre nothing like my cars original rear seat and door trims....
does any body have some photos of this trim in a 59 any colour will do.
i need to know how the back side of the front seat is patterned as my font seat has been covered in yukky brown vinyl years ago and they took all the original cover off beforehand the fools.
also my hoodlining is a velour type material and sms says it should be a woven cotton type... the hoodlining looks original it hasnt been replaced as for as i can see.
thanks for all your help i want to keep my car as authentic as possible as its a well optioned up texas car. built in detroit november 1958 delivered to dallas same month so it looks like an early one.
it has factoery ac,, power steer, mirrormatic ,jiffy jet with auto switch on wipers ,. speed alert, remote mirror. ,rear de fogger and im finding little extras all the time. like electric front aerial., rear speaker control.,3.36 rear end. big front brakes.
cheers thanks heaps im keen for what photos you have somebody must have something i cant find much on the internet. brett in australia

Brett

If you can wait a couple of days I'll send you some pics of the trim from my 59 Coronet sedan to your email address if that helps. Mine isn't pretty at all and the condition of the drivers side of the front seat will probably make you laugh considering it was a legally licensed on road car in California before being imported into Australia in 2011, but you should get an idea of what yours should look like ( mine is in blue color ).

Before you outlay money to SMS for material just have a search first on here about experiences others have had with them on supply of ordered material. There's a bit of hit and miss when it comes to customer satisfaction it would seem. I'd hate for you to get burn't without knowing what you might be in for and being down here in Australia and thousands of miles away from SMS it makes it so much more harder if anything goes wrong.

By they way, the remnants of my hood lining in my 59 also suggests a velour type hood lining originally rather than the woven cotton that SMS feels it should have.

While you are waiting for my pics........

Yours should be a similar trim to this one here:-

That's pretty much the same as mine except mine is blue.

Hi again and thanks to all who have given their ideas. The blue car has custom coronet trim like mine it's a pity the seats have been recovered the design isn't as it was originally. The door trims look right but. Mine are the same but different colours light pinkish tan pearl bottom wiht heat pressed motifs x 2.
with darker brownish non pearl centre stripe.
then heat pressed section behind handles to match seat inserts in the same pinkish tan pearl then mylar up top.
The link to the other coronet has the standard coronet snowflake cloth and completely different door card and seat layout but is a nice trim combo no less.
it sounds like sms have their wires crossed with the hood liningtoo Iif yours has a heavy type shade velour like mine.
hopefully some one out there can she'd some light on my trim combo. Will ring the man in Melbourne re his stock of 50 s vinyl tomorrow cheers brett.
