Elite Veteran Posts: 943 | The car will be fully restored. First thing is to get it up and running. It has the Swivel seat as well as every other option you could get in 1959 with the except of air suspension, and I'm not sure you could get that when you ordered A/C. I have been looking for one like this for years so I'm very happy.

Elite Veteran Posts: 943 | Yea, being an Imperial and with this many options it will be a lot of work and $$ to rebuild and get everything functional. I do most everything myself though.

This looks like it had once been a stunningly formal car. What was the original color ? 1959 was the first year for the Base model to be called "Custom", then there was the "Crown", and top of the line "LeBaron" Of course, there were also the limited Ghia built limos too. This one doesn't have the LeBaron badge on the lower quarter panel. Based on the obvious options, I would assume it's a Crown model. You can see the 1959 paint chips here: http://www.imperialclub.com/Yr/1959/PaintChips/index.htm

Extreme Veteran Posts: 566 Location: Wichita, Kansas | Awesome, FINS!, so happy to see that car get some love. It looks too good to be a parts car. What all options does it have? I have a 59 LeBaron that has, what I believe, to be every option as well minus air suspension. Just as a side note, easiest way to tell a LeBaron from a Custom/Crown from a distance (to me at least) is the fender molding continues into the front door on LeBaron. Another way is the cursive LeBaron emblem vs. block letter IMPERIAL fender emblem. We. must. see. pictures!

Elite Veteran Posts: 943 | Thanks for the interest guys. 58 300D--59 Lebarons seem to have a tiny survival rate, have only seen a few come up for sale over the years. Didn't realize that about the front door molding, I never noticed that about them. I am unsure of the original color of the car, even from the other photos I saw it is unclear, most likely a dark grey or black. It is a Crown, has the little crowns in the front eyebrows For options it has (power steering and brakes were standard on all Imperials): Swivel seat power windows power locks heater front & rear A/C radio w/ power antenna tinted (Solex) glass Auto Pilot Automatic headlight dimmer Flytesweep decklid Mirror-Matic Stainless roof hood ornament Don't know if it had the optional leather trim, interior is so torn up. I think the rear A/C took the place of the defroster & A/C not available with air suspension. So I think this is everything you could get at the same time. I have 2 other 59s, 1 a parts car, and am getting a 4th one here locally. Edited by FINS! 2016-08-10 1:02 AM

Expert Posts: 2490 Location: Kansas City, KS | That's a healthy list of options! You're right about the defogger not being available with rear A/C. The return/inlet air vent is in the same place as where the defogger would normally be. There is room for rear A/C and a center mounted rear speaker though.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 566 Location: Wichita, Kansas | Awesome list of options, FINS! Check a couple more when you have time. I see in the photo it does not have the passenger fender mirror, but check for the screw holes, it may have had one. Also, on the roof, since it has the Silvercrest it may have had the Landau top as well (basically the back half of the top painted black and leather-grained). I'm not sure if when you got Silvercrest the Landau was part of the option, or separate. Another to look for is the big L-shaped 4 note horn on the right side of the core support. Is your radio the 7-button signal seeking radio? Very cool to see another 59 so loaded up with stuff. It's great you are saving the old car. I forgot another way to tell a LeBaron from a distance is double taillight rings. This is not 100% as they don't all have them. I've seen one or two with only one set, but many LeBarons have two. Another, but you'd have to look close if at a distance, is a crest emblem on the rear lower quarter panel diecast stone shields.

Elite Veteran Posts: 943 | Once I get the car moved (this week) I'll check on those other options. I don't think the top was the landau with leather grain. I am trying to think when I'v ever seen one, I don't think I have. I'll have to check on that center mounted rear speaker too. I got the paper work from the owner and the car appears to have been last registered in 1973 in California.

Elite Veteran Posts: 943 | I had the car picked up, here are a few more photos at the shop where it is temporarily. Getting tires put on it. It's a good car, a couple small rust areas but nothing too difficult to fix and it is 100% complete. Needs trunk lid, rear pass door, driver fender replaced, all of which I have, will probably get a better passenger fender too. It is black with an all white leather interior, which was special order in '59 I believe. I have a 1960 Lebaron that has every single option and is also black with all white leather interior (that was definitely special order in '60). They will make a nice pair.
