I talked to John Quinn today.
We should have 4 or 5 forwardlooks there.
The more, the merrier. It is a morning show 9 - 1, so if you don't have plans, bring your forwardlook and come out!
I will post some pictures.

We had six Forward Look cars in attendance - it was a lot of fun! Our man John Quinn won best in class among the Forward Look cars for his outstanding 1959 Belvedere convertible. Ken Fare won a sponsor's choice award for his amazing 1956 Imperial Crown sedan. The Ambergs wowed the field with their 1958 Royal Lancer D500 and 1959 Sport Fury. Neil Braddy drove his 1960 Adventurer coupe in from Canyon City. It was a really neat car! He bought a long time project and finished the assembly. Neil finished his tail light lenses by adding chrome reflective tape to the lenses - which was an awesome inexpensive fix for a common problem - great solution (that's the type of stuff I really like). Late in the morning, a very cool 1956 New Yorker Newport rolled in. I never met the owner, but it was a gem. Lots of fantastic non-Forward Look cars too. A few images for you:

We also met a fellow there named Scott Steers who bought Max Sokolov's three 1958 Firedome convertibles!
He is going to bring them to Denver in the near future, so I think that makes Colorado the intergalactic headquarters of 1958 De Soto Firedome convertibles!
I talked to him for a while and he says he probably has enough to put together all three convertibles. Wouldn't that be something!
He seems like a really nice fellow.

Really sorry I missed the show this year, but there were too many conflicts. John's '59 was the only FL I've seen from this batch of photos. Maybe next year.

Mike --
Good thing I wasn't able to make it up there with either the Beast or Ol' MD2. Either would have been lost in the glow of those other cars.

Gary and Joe -

It would have been good to see both of you! Joe, there is no way on earth the BTB or MDII could be lost in a crowd.
Actually, both cars would have been crowd pleasers. We did not field a 1957 this year and the BTB would have been a styling and performance hit.

Joe, I hope you will be able to drive the Southern MoPar / Colorado MoPar rally and picnic this September. We need more Forward Lookers there.

There were some excellent pre-Forward Look cars at the event too (Class I). The Tuthills brought their unrestored and absolutely amazing 1947 De Soto Suburban (almost exactly like Mr. Cunningham's car on Happy Days). It was awesome to behold! Christoph brought a 1932 1/2 Plymouth PB rumble-seat roadster to the event, it won a sponsor's choice award. It was outstanding. The blue 1953 Dodge Coronet convertible won several awards - totally pristine and brilliant. The 1954 New Yorker was incredibly beautiful - it should have won all sorts of awards. There were some great un-restored cars too (Class VII, very impressive in that respect) - a white 1953 Dodge Coronet convertible and a 1950 Saratoga sedan. A few images of those cars:

Mike-

Did he buy all 3 of Max's? Max had one under restoration, a turquoise and black car from NY state, did he buy that one too?

Nice cars, btw!!!

Hi, Matt:

my understanding is that he bought a yellow car from the LA area - a coupe someone was converting which came with a correct cowl tag and vin plate
+ the Bo Maelfors primer Firedome
+ a pile of parts that equates to another car

I don't think any of them are the teal and black Firedome Max was restoring or by this time may be fully restored.
I think that one was destined for Austria.

Hi Rick!

I meant to ask you at the show: do you still have your dad's two-tone De Soto steering wheel?
I have been looking to upgrade mine, if you ever want to sell it.

It was a great show with 5 Forward Looks in attendance. We all were proud we had so many for people to look at! Hopefully more will show up next year

The 47 Desoto is a Traveler model. I guess the first motor home! Look at all the room.

The first motorhomes look more like this '37 Packard. Vehicles like this were made for movie directors and others that often had to live at different locations while shooting.

That's a real nice gathering of forward look cars. It's not often that you can see that many in one spot. I want to see some pictures of the red convertible too!

Hi, Nathan - I think I took a couple. That fancy schmancy new vanity mirror on the visor is courtesy John Quinn. He had a spare and gave it to me! Very nice fella, he is.
He also bought me the altimeter by the steering wheel. My record height is 12,183 feet above sea-level (Trail Ridge Road). There are only a couple more roads I know of that would take me higher!
