Hi All,
I need to find out how the jack assembly is stored inside the trunk, especially a 2-door body.
Thanks

I'm surprised no one answered your question - I'm not totally sure but I'm giving it a try: I'm pretty sure the jack is stowed between the spare tire and inner fender but I don't know if it was the whole assembly or without the base. It was probably secured with a spring that stretched from part of the jack to a provision on the trunk floor or wheel well.

Like I said, I'm not an expert so someone else might want to help and even provide a picture.

The owner of the Belvedere opened the owner's manual but it's not clear and doesn't provide any instructions. Any retainer, whether a spring or clip is missing. Yes, a photo would help, I assume that this board has at least one owner of a 1955-56 Plymouth or Dodge hardtop or sedan that could provide some info.

Neither of my cars had the original jacks but I have some pictures that I have been hunting for the shows everything and how it all goes together. I saw your post a couple of days ago, but I haven't been able to locate the pictures yet. I will see what I can find.

Ok, so here is how the jack mounts at the bottom end. I don't know where the "hook" goes.

Thanks David, that pic explains a lot especially the spring (which is missing). Your jack shaft is tubular while my friend's is a forged shaft, but then he doesn't know if it was original. On the jack that I blasted and painted has a riveted hook to the mechanism.

Your hook should clipped on the pin in the middle, the spring probably holds in place.

Here's what the spare looks like in my '56 Plaza.
