Location: Washington, PA | I am trying figure out for sure what battery hold down was used on a 57 Dodge. I think it is the one that has a dog leg bend to it but I want to be sure before purchasing one. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. |

I believe they used the full-perimeter hold down, size depends on the battery and tray size. (Group 24 or Group 27) I've never seen an original, mine are always missing.

Location: Falcon, CO | The battery hold down being sold on eBay and referenced on the link above looks like the one that was on my car when I bought it in 1978. It has since corroded through and I need a replacement, so I may have to break down and buy that one eventually unless I can find a good used one somewhere...

Location: Eastern Iowa | The "western" 300 club has a repro for sale in their club store.
I bought one for my 300C but they are not a 100% true re-pro.
But most/many folks would not pick up on that.
It is a very reasonable facsimile though and a perimeter hold down. |

Dave, does it fit today's top post batteries? The original ones only seem to fit the expensive "antique" sized batteries.

| Christine-Lover has the correct one pictured, I have that one on two of my Forward-Look cars, no problems fitting the battery. I one case, I had to remove the battery's carry strap. I have one and the under battery tray for sale, but that one is correct for the '49 thru '55 six volt group one battery. |
