Exner Expert 10K+ Posts: 10238 Location: Lower Mainland BC | Method 1: Photos are on your computer hard drive: 1. You tick the box at the bottom of the post where is says [_] Attach a file after posting. 2. Then hit Submit (just hitting Preview doesn't work) 3. Once you hit submit, you get a screen like the one below (which is a screen capture, not live, so don't click on it) 4. Click on BROWSE and 5. Go to the hard drive Folder and the photo you want and select it and click OPEN. 6. Then hit Submit. In a few seconds you will see the photo url show up in the upper right (as shown below). 7. Then BROWSE again for the next photo and repeat the process as needed. Eventually hit RETURN TO THREAD when you are done uploading your photos. There are some additional options but that should help you get going. Hope it helps somebody. Method 2 (which I will do tomorrow) is for photos that exist somewhere other than your harddrive. There have been several times I have wanted to do this but not sure if it is possible. Definitely possible. It just has to exist on a public hard drive somewhere because there is no feature to upload when you are in PM mode. This would be Method 2 which I will now attempt.

Exner Expert 10K+ Posts: 10238 Location: Lower Mainland BC | Method 2: Posting photos that exist on a public hard drive somewhere. This could be anything. As long as you can right click on it and get a "Copy Image Location" you can include it in your post here. For example, I just went to My Ebay to some aerials that I bought. I got into the photos and then right clicked on the one I wanted and then clicked on the Copy Image Location (i.e. the url of the photo) Then I came back here and tucked the image url into an html format i.e. [img src="imageurlgoeshere"] where [=< and ] => as shown in the screen capture (shown under the aerial photo) Edited by 56D500boy 2017-01-18 8:20 PM (Method2_1.jpg) Attachments ---------------- Method2_1.jpg (84KB - 668 downloads)

Your help is appreciated. There is a reply box at the bottom of the thread when you are reading the thread but, as you have learned, it is a minimalist reply, with no options, emoticons, etc. HOWEVER, when you hit either the QUOTE button (which gives you the Full function reply screen plus the quote you are replying to) or the REPLY button (full function reply but no quote), you have the options including the [_] Attach a file after posting box. Hope you have better luck now that you know this.

Exner Expert 10K+ Posts: 10238 Location: Lower Mainland BC | . Apparently, nobody remembers this thread and all the hints it contains. The main issue is the photo file needs to be less than 250 kB. I find resizing to 1024 x 768 usually accomplishes that. The second and problematic issue is, for whatever reasons, this forum does not like Apple product .jpeg files. If a .jpeg file is less than 250 kB, you can upload it but the forum software will NOT automatically display the photo. We, as the forum members, have to click on the upload notification at the bottom of the post and then manually download and open the .jpeg file. *IF* you want to have your photo automatically open as part of your thread, it has to be a) < 250 kB and b) a .jpg (NOT .jpeg) file I believe that there many programs that do that. Personally, I have been using IRFANVIEW for maybe 20 years (??) (I used it when I was working) to resize and convert photos to .jpgs less than 250 kB before I upload the photo as something that I wanted to include in a posting. Here is an example oF recently posted .jpeg file that I just processed with IRFANVIEW to a 1024 x 768 .jpg file and then (just now) uploaded it to this post. Where I got the free IRFANVIEW download: https://www.irfanview.com/ Edited by 56D500boy 2024-06-29 2:20 PM (Stephannies61PlymouthFury.jpg) Attachments ---------------- Stephannies61PlymouthFury.jpg (196KB - 56 downloads)

Exner Expert 10K+ Posts: 10238 Location: Lower Mainland BC | finsruskw - 2024-06-29 10:33 AM That's just the perfect size Dave! I think 1024 x 768 works very well. 800 x 600 is okay but a bit small for my tastes. 1280 x 720 is a bit too wide. Nathan (Powerflite) and I have gone around (and around) on the size issue. http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=78507&... Then there is .jpeg vs .jpg. All I know is iProduct images are too large without processing down to 1024 x 768 and IF you are using something like IRFANVIEW to do that, saving the processed image as a .jpg is a no- brainer.
