Has anyone tried Chrysler Historical for info on these trucks? I have not tried that yet for my 56.

Are you sure that the number on the frame matches the number on the title? I think you may have mis-read it. The second number might be "A" instead of 4.
My VIN is: 8A664303 which also gives an error on their VIN decoder page. So I wouldn't worry about that. I think their decoder is setup mostly for the 4x4 trucks so that may be why it doesn't recognize it. The best thing to do is to contact Chrysler Historical, but you want to make sure you have the right number first, of course.

84301038 is a valid serial number for a Dodge Truck V8 D-100 (model K8D-100). It is actually near to the end of production.

The serial number sequence began at 84,289,001 and ended at 84,302,064. So, your truck is the 12,038th of 13,064 V8 D-100 trucks built at the Warren Truck plant in Detroit.

There were no letters in Chrysler Corporation serial numbers from mid-1930 to the end of the 1957 model year - with the exception of 1955 to 1957 Imperials and American-built Chryslers.

Not many sites have the ending numbers for the 1957 Chrysler Corporation serial numbers - car and truck.

Great news So my title is wrong. That is good to know, but I probably won't bother to change it. But I assume that the correct number would be 84664303. Does that fit in the sequence for a '57 D200?

Yes, 84,664,303 would fall into the 1957 D-200 V8 serial number sequence - 84,662,001 to 94,664,854.
