OK, on both my sedan with the 543 trim and 4dr hdtp which is 533 the push button housing color is green. Yep green. Kinda a olive or forest. I thought that was odd since both those trim packages are browns. I don't think it's the Tamarack Green Metallic. Definitely not metallic anyhow.

Anybody know what the color green is or have done a color match?

thanks,
Dave

Whatever it is, I would think that it should be painted the same colour as the main dash colour.

Like these (maybe I am missing something?):

Yep I hear you. I was getting ready to paint it dark bronze like the rest of the trim. However, I am almost certain that I am dealing with factory color. So if it came that way then I'm going to go with the dark green.

Maybe this shows the green color better. The flash washes it out some, but it's definitely green.

Unless there is some other green in/on the dash or on the door panels, I would suggest that the green was a factory Fkup that nobody caught. You now have the opportunity to correct that mistake or simply repeat it. Personally, I would go with the bronze and correct the mistake.

I'd be inclined to agree the green might be a mistake. However... the same mistake on both my 57 De Sotos seems a bit unlikely. It's weird no doubt.

Take it off and have a look at the back or where it has not seen daylight, these trims change colour with the sunlight, but they are usually same colour as dash pad, give it a good wash and the reverse side should show original colour.

Underneath the pink paint applied by the previous owner, mine has that same dark green color. But my car was originally an Aqua so it would make more sense. They may have all been painted that color just because it is a part that is not readily seen on the underside of the dash. The same part on my Chryslers are all black color.

The replacement part numbers for that housing do NOT indicate any colours so who knows what was going on back on the line.

Even if it was dark green from the factory. I just repainted it dark bronze. I'll send a pic when it's reinstalled. I was just kinda surprised that both my cars came that way.

Dark bronze looks just fine.
