Location: OKC, OK | Is there any benefit to replacing a 2 bbl carb on a 361 engine with a 4 bbl 600 cfm carb |

Location: So. Cal | There is if you also put on dual exhaust. A better cam would also require a better carb. But if the motor can't breathe much anyway, the benefit is minimal. |

Location: OKC, OK | I am planning on putting on duel exhausts. The engine has just been rebuilt but with a new standard cam and not bored out. |

At full throttle, yes for regular driving, no.
Smaller throttle bores are known to have better throttle response for regular driving, since the 2-barrel throttle bores are generally larger, one might notice better throttle response from the 4-barrel even in regular driving. |

Location: Ponder, TX | It didn't do a thing performance-wise for my '66 361. It was a tenth faster in the quarter with no noticeable change in gas mileage, but the new Edelbrock carb was more pleasant to drive. It would probably have been faster if I had used a modern aluminum intake, but I used an adapter on an old OEM 383 intake. It had a mild RV cam, dual exhausts and minor head work.
FWIW, my son's nearly identically equipped car with a Poly 318 beat my 361 every time we raced. |

Location: N.W. Fla. | keep in mind with all of the "you have to also change other things if you do" comments. The 331 Hemi started out as a 2 bl, 7.5 C/R & small valves & ports 51-3, in '54 it got a 4 bl & bigger ex ports. In '55 it got 8.5 C/R & bigger valves. The cam remained the same for all years...... |
