My '57 dash rearview mirror does not hold up....the ball is too loose on the base as these often are... I used some tin paper around the ball to make it tighter but it is not bullet proof solution.. Any good ideas to fix this..? Have You guys glued it or what would be a good material to tighten it up?

Also I have a problem with turn signal mechanism on my '57 DeSoto steering column, the mechanism is so worn out that the weight of the turnsignal lever actuates the left turn signal.

- I guess it is not possible to find new turnsignal mechanism anywhere but has anyone managed to retrofit some of these newer, easily available turnsignal mechanisms from sixties or seventies MoPars or any other vehicle to FL steering column...?

(I'm hoping I do not have to use some hot rod turnsignal switch over the steering column).

You can get replacement rear view mirror support cups or maybe get a slightly used one.

If your plastic cup is still present, put a washer under it. If it is broken or missing, get a new plastic cup from ebay and put a washer under that one. Yes, I have to use a washer even under the new ones.

Mine have what seems to be a spring steel washer in there - it has a "wave" to it.

Mine did too, but it wasn't enough to prevent it from moving when tightened so I had to add more.
