There are two styles. The 55 is different than the 56.

56D500boy - 2017-05-31 11:17 PM There are two styles. The 55 is different than the 56.

Here are examples of the two types that I have seen:

1955 (apparently the pump is an "Eaton"):

Reference: http://www.ebay.com/itm/GGU-6004A-1952-Chrysler-Imperial-Generator-...

Reference: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1955-1956-Chrysler-Dodge-Plymouth-Desoto-US...

1956:

1956 Dodge D500 (not mine but same pump):

Note: The pumps can be "clocked" to some extent to get the fill/reservoir more vertical than shown here:

Hope that helps a bit?

Here are some pictures. I finished parting this car out 15 years ago, but have known the car for over 40 years. Supposedly the reason the car was junked was that the steering had been repaired and it went out again, so they junked it. You can see that the screw holding the drive had come loose and had allowed the drive to spin, eating away the square drive inside the drive tab. It looks like the pump is fine, so if your drive tab is okay, you can swap it over and be fine. A person could also weld up the drive tab and be fine. I've seen several repaired that lasted for many years. I would still reseal the pump, just to be safe.
If your interested, send me a PM.
Bob

When they go bad they lockup on the inside and burn the fan belts up or shear something off inside or outside the pump. I would guess that is what happen to your pump. I already bought two pumps that were bad.
what would you want for it if I buy it for parts?

Before I just sell it for parts, I'll bench test it and see what pressure and flow it creates. If good, I'll reseal it and then sell it.
I know it's not locked up and it does pump when turning the drive by hand.

Ron,
I repaired the drive and made a correct washer/retainer. I do not have the fittings to pressure test this pump but it creates plenty of flow and you can't hold your finger over the hose when just turning the pump by hand. I feel this pump is in very good condition. I left fluid and pressure on the pump for 2 days and no leaks. If you want it, the way it is, I'll sell it for $40.00 plus freight. I'll even throw in the hose, which looks good.
If interested, send me a PM.
Bob

Ron,
If you are not interested, please let me know. I'm sure there are others out there that really do need a good 56 Chrysler (Eaton) pump.

It was an engineering short-sight to make a PS pump contiguous with a generator. Space and belt problems, but you could build a house in those engine bays. However, I think I have one. I have no idea if it works for either function. Free for the price of shipping. I'll send you pics if you don't find what you need.
