hi
want a deluxe steering wheel for 56, which has the "hump" chrome center piece. I assume this was used on the Belvedere. Mine looks a little ragged and would like a nicer one. My car is a sport suburban station wagon. Leads, referrals appreciated. thank you for your time.

Are you saying that you already have one? If so, you should just get it repaired. I bought one in excellent shape 12yrs ago, but now it has cracked quite a bit from sitting in the hot car. You might be able to find someone who can mold a new one if you ask around, but if not, I think that places like Koch's can repair yours by filling the cracks with a resin material.

Recasting a two-tone 55-56 steering wheel costs about $1250 to $1500 based on my investigations. I bought a solid black steering will for my 56 Dodge from French Lake Auto Parts for around $100 shipped. I intend to use an epoxy filler as per the video link below and paint to make it pretty. I know it will turn out pretty good since I did a much rattier job involving PlastiDip and paint on a cracked 55 two tone wheel and it turned out not bad considering the lack of effort I put into it.

The Plymouth wheel is a single color, but I doubt that anyone has a mold available for the deluxe plymouth wheel so repairing your original is probably your only option. Just to be clear, you are referring to this "Hollywood " plastic wheel, correct?

I recall seeing them in person, but I just confirmed that Quality Restorations does have the mold for a Deluxe 55-56 Plymouth wheel. http://qualityrestorations.com/plymouth-steering-wheels/

Good find! And it looks like you can get it done in any stock or non-stock color you would like.

Nathan, Quality Restorations is always out at the Grand National Show in Pomona with a giant display . . . . . I think they had a 55-56 Dodge wheel last year in clear sparkle blue. Pretty awesome.

Cool. I never go to those things. I went to a giant auto swap meet in San Diego and felt like I was wandering around for days on end with 1 mopar part in the whole place I ran out of water and became really dehydrated.... so I haven't been to another one since.

Totally understand Nathan . . . . I did that Big 3 San Diego swap two years ago and felt the same way. The Grand Nationals is one of the biggest and best car shows around in my opinion . . . . not really a swap, more of a car & product show.

hi
I have bought a better used steering wheel. So there are 2 types of steering wheels, one is "hollywood" and what is the name of the other style of steering wheel?
thank you for your time.

It is the standard "rubber" wheel. The Hollywood wheel was called that because it is made of plastic and was an upgrade option, but standard on the Fury.
