Expert Posts: 3887 Location: Northen Virginia | Finally I got my build card for my 1957 Imperial located in Argentina with Km/h speedometer. It was a huge surprise for me when I found out that my car was shipped originally from USA to La Guaira Venezuela, which is a world away from Argentina. I have no clue how the car made it this far from the original destinations and is a mystery that maybe never be solved. I have to ask the widow's son if his father traveled to Venezuela and purchased the car there. The car was in Argentina by late 1957.. They are a lot of numbers there that I still don't know about, if someone know something it will be more than welcomed..Don? Philippe? Expert Posts: 2490 Location: Kansas City, KS | Philippe is the expert when it comes to 1957 Imperial IBM cards not me. Frederic (Imp58Alpes) might be able to help too. I only know some of the body tag codes for 1958 because I own enough to compare with each other (the rest I copied from Philippe). That is interesting writing on the back of the glove box. I'll have to crawl under some dashes to see if any of mine have writing too.

Expert Posts: 1819 Location: Vancouver, BC | The two entries on the back of the instrument panel - KILO - (code 411) for kilo speedometer. The car should have one. 228 2567 - The first zero was dropped and it is the SCH ITEM that appears on the top row, right, on the body tag and the top row, left, on the IBM card. The SCH , 0228, is the scheduled build date, February 28, 1957, while the 2567 means the 567th car scheduled that day. I believe the "2" identifies the car as an Imperial. By 1960 the SCH ITEM entry would be the SON - Shipping Order Number. On the body tag : MDL - Model - 2 - Medium price range 8 - series - Crown 5 - 4dr Sedan PNT - Paint A - Jet Black TRIM - Interior trim code 87 - Red Leather option Options : 357 - Flitesweep deck lid 349 - Dual headlamps 356 - Electro Touch radio 332 - Solex Glass BODY - 13809 SO / FO - Shipping Order / Foreign Order - 0301 Do not know what the "6" under the "D" is for, but the only other "6" I could find was "576" for tire size. Going to the IBM card : Top two rows = The numbers are entered on the first row are related to the preprinted information just below them. Most of the details are entered on the body tag, as given above. The codes listed to the right of "TRIM" - 230 - unknown 393 - Tire Kit 402 - Shipping - Have a list for 1958 that has code ending in "2" as "boat with rail beyond" 411 - Kilo speedometer 422 - Radiator 425 - unknown 0301 - Special Order or Foreign Order The next group has three rows - top for the computer entry, showing the third digit of the sales code, denoting which options were on the car, the second row for the complete sales code and the third the sales code description. The entries marked - 352 - Solex Glass 349 - Dual Headlamps 356 - Electro Touch radio 357 - Flitesweep deck lid 551 - Crank case vent 576 - Tires 13809 - Body Number The next group is pretty straight forward, being a group of entries done by hand - Ignition Key No, Rear Deck Key No, Serial Number, and Motor No. On the left side the Date Shipped is recorded as March 7, 1957, and is being shipped to the Port of La Guaira, just east of Maiquetia, in Venezuela. And then from there by rail to the next stop on the trip. Probably by truck or drive to the dealer. The very bottom has 80 columns numbers out from left to right. The descriptions of the columns are right above the numbers and there are holes in a number of columns. On the right side of the car there are numbers "0" to "9" printed. The column numbers give the first two digits of the sales codes (columns 1 to 9 should be read as 01 to 09) while the hole punch gives the third number in the sales codes. For item such was the serial number, the column number identify the location of the punched number in the serial number. Columns used on this IBM card - 12 to 15 for Model - "-"-"2"-"8"-"5" (First digit is blank) 16 to 19 for Paint - only one A is entered, although there is upper hole probably denoting there is only one colour. 20 to 21 for Trim - "8"-"7" 29 - "1" for Car Number 31 to 35 - Special Equipment - columns 31 and 32 are blank. Others entries are "2" in column 33, "9"in 34 and "6 and "7" in column 35 column 39 - "3" - Tire Kit (?) column 40 - "2" - unknown column 41 - "1" - Kilo speedometer column 42 - "2" - Radiator core (heavy duty?) column 47 - "6" - optional battery (size?) 50 to 53 - Special Order / Foreign Order - "0"-"3"-"0"-"1" column 57 - "6" - Tires (size?) 62 to 64 - Motor Code - "4"-"5"'-"0" 65 to 69 - Body Number - "1"-"3"-"8"-"0"-"9" 70 to 77 - Schedule and Item - "0"-"2"-"2"-"8"-"2"-"5"-"6"-"7" 79 - Tracer - "4" 80 - "8" - Car Shipped. No numbers are entered in columns 1 through 11 or on the top row for "Region", "Dealer No", and "Order No" as this was an export vehicle to South America. Detroit would probably have no data for dealers in South America as at that time the companies handling Chrysler Corporation sales were distributors and not subsidiaries of Chrysler. Hope this all makes at least a little sense.

Expert Posts: 3887 Location: Northen Virginia | Hi Bill I did some careful study of your info and I have some questions: Yes, the car has Kilo speedometer. -the upholstery was grey leather, and pretty sure it was the original, because the Crown embossed on the arm rest and also the door panels also had them, but who knows for sure. -the car came with heater delete (obviously because the Venezuelan jungle) so that may be the 230-425 or 402 unknown options. -My question is if you know how the accessories package were assigned, because the car had power windows, power antenna and power seat and those options are not showing maybe because they are part of a pkg and it also one of the unknown numbers. -Have you an idea of what the “373” hand writing mean? Also is a check mark on “bumper guard front and rear” Thanks a lot! Denis

Power windows and power seat would be standard items on Crown and LeBaron models. Therefore, there would not be options checked for these items. I'm not 100% certain about the power antenna but it should also be the same as the p/w and p/seat. The "base" model would be the only one with these options marked.
