A friend of mine down here has the ACTUAL complete cover that was over the Buried Plymouth in the ground for 50 years. He rescued it from the dumpster at the convention center in Tulsa on the day of the unveiling and brought it all the way home with him to New Zealand in the back of a New Yorker.
He offered it to the museum last week, for free, and they were not interested. Crazy!
A priceless piece of automotive history that should be a part of the car's display, going unwanted.
Glenn.

It didn't really do the job it was meant to do, did it?  I can understand why a museum wouldn't want it, particularly if the cover is still in New Zealand and the museum it was offered to is here in the US. It wouldn't be worth the cost of shipping it back.

It was offered to the museum, delivered free to their door.

I remember when they unearthed it they put a cover over it to bring it from the crypt to the auditorium. I did not realize it was entombed with a cover! That would be interesting to see!

Awesome!

If the folks at the museum had the pictures and knew the story, they would jump at the chance to have that cover!
Maybe your friend just didn't talk to the right person over there?

He sent about 20 photos by email and said he would deliver it in person. Maybe he didn't speak with the right person, sometimes it's a case of a little inside knowledge to know who that would be. if anybody knows who that would be at the museum, let me know. The car and the cover need to be reunited.

I remember that the cover was for sale years ago. My souvenirs were one piece of 2X4 used to jack the car up and the metal savings of the time capsule that i pick it up from the floor.

No-one has thought of chipping away a few pieces of the porous and leaky concrete at the time?

Could've made a fortune!

I have a chip of that concrete and some of the rust off of Miss Belvedere. I also have a piece of the glass that the Coddington crew broke to get into the car. Neil grabbed a bunch and gave pieces out that night. No one else in the world would have cared that day.
