White over turquoise hardtop sitting at a Florida '60s home under palm trees wearing a thorough restoration on a rare desirable car. What's not to excite any car collector?

As hard as I try to like the '61 DeSotos, and I am a DeSoto guy, I just think back to the '60 model and how much more pleasing to the eye the look is. What a difference a year makes.

I will admit that this one is about as nice of a '61 as can probably be found these days that are for sale.

If I had a '61, I would have a hard time not painting the tail light surround body color like what was planned and shown on the brochure.

you can't beat the 60 Desoto for the best batwing car... Although I think that 61 has grown on me

I wish they had sloped that top of the hood instead of jutted it out.

I thought the 59 dodge was kind of funky also until I saw one in person, then I was like darn that car is mean.

61's are an acquired taste ... DeSoto, Dodge, Plymouth ...

I found a white 4HT years ago with the tail light bezels painted in
like the brochure shows. It was in the mid-70's and the car was a
stripped out parts car. Not sure if a driver/owner did it, or one squeaked
out of the factory that way (?). Only one I ever saw done like that.
The side profile with the body color paint on the fin tip is very compli-
-mentary to the slippery, overswept look of the fin.

Blacking out behind that grille would be a help for making the grille
look better. Not sure why restorers miss this so often. The factory did
it, and it really sets off the sparkle of the grille.

The VIN does not make sense, should be 6116 1xxxxx

There is a postcard "Welcome to Zephyrhills" circa 1971 with a similar Desoto parked on the right side....

Sweet car! I believe the same seller sold a couple of other Desotos this past year. If I recall, they had a 57 and a 60. Both in similar shape. Does anyone here know this seller?

Call me crazy. The '61s have a beautiful and distinctive snout. What a great car!

Indeed this seller sold a 57 and a 60 Desoto few months ago. Both reached serious prices at the end of the auction. It is interesting that I can't find positive feedback for the seller from these two sales.

Out of nowhere, with the single bid, e***5 snags it will about an hour to go. (Hmm...seems like there should have been a counterbid with that much time left).

Nice car if you like that sort of thing. (1960 looked better in my opinion)

CRAZY price for a a 4 door with a rusted away trunk edge and very poorly repaired, not original, trunk floor. makes me wonder how they fixed the rear quarters.... i've seen 61 4 doors with better bodys not selling for 500 bucks. what glossy paint can do!

when they installed the new trunk floor they didn't even bother to weld in the reinforcements that also locate the tank. explains the position of the tank. also note bent/cracked rear panel. if you look at the detail, that "restoration" ain't gonna last and that car is not safe.
