I have had this car for 1 year. The mechanical is done. The body is about ready to paint. I want to start driving this but can't really drive it at night because the dash lights aren't working. I replaced the bulbs all of which looked burnt out. After putting new bulbs in and discovering they still didn't work I bypassed the rheostat to see if that was bad. They still don't work. I have 12 volts to the light sockets. Do these take a special bulb? I bought the replacements at Auto Zone. They are 14v, 3.8 watt. I thought these would work. Anyone have any similar experiences? All help appreciated, Thanks, Tracy.

So this 127934 bulb (aka: WW-16HJ-1) ? The wiring diagram might help.

Looks like you need a connection via a red wire from the headlight switch to the instrument cluster light switch/rheostat and from there black wires to the lamp sockets.

I have the wiring diagrams and it looks like the bulbs are correct. When I checked for voltage I ran the ground probe to a dash support bracket. I'll run it to the inner housing like in the diagram. It may be as simple as running a ground to the panel back from a support bracket. I'll update. Thanks, Tracy.

I was going to say to check the ground, but you are already on it! The rheostat is also a common issue (i have to give mine an occasional love tap) but you are on top of that too.
