This was local to me at a local tool shop. Spotted it as I left, stopped went back in and found the owner (one of the staff). He told me it was a Canadian model. He said "313". And then he said "factory two four bbl carbs". I said "Wow".

I told him that I will come back (with my camera) and will want to see under the hood.

Any Canucks (Bill?) have info about this car? (Red and white, 4 dr, great shape, after market mags)

Forgot to say that he mentioned that the literature he knew about mentioned "eight barrel" carburetion.

Allpar says our own Bill Watson said:

"The 313 V8 appeared in 1957 in the Canadian Custom Royal. For 1958, the 313 became the standard V8 for the 118" wheelbase Plymouth and Dodge models. It was available in Plymouth and Dodge models through 1964, and was replaced by the 318 for 1965. The poly 318 was last used in Canadian production on the 1967 models."

I don't know about Canadian cars but in the US the only polysphere powered Plymouths that got the dual quad variation in 1958 is the Fury. That motor was Fury only in 1958 in the US. I'd venture to bet the same is true for Canadian cars but I can't say that with the same certainty I can about the US cars. I'd need to see a Canadian brochure or something indicating the 313 as available in dual quad form. Other than that I'd say it's just like the red/white cars that are being built now.. they're all Furys and ALL factory dual quad cars.... LOL naw.

No such thing as a dual quad in Canada. The Plymouth, and Plymouth-based Dodge, had the 313 V8 in 1958 in 2-bbl form or with the Power Pack 4-bbl carb with no other V8 engines available.

The Fury was not built in Canada although you could order one. Chrysler of Canada would then place an order with Chrysler in Detroit and have one built and then shipped to Canada. The imported models (convertible, 3 seat Custom Suburban, and Fury) were identical to the models sold in the U.S. The engine for the imported models would be the 318 V8 and not the 313.

This red and white sedan could have a factory dual quad. It is just not original on that engine, or the engine/carbs not original to that car. Would be interesting to know the engine number, if it can be seen.

Have checked the Canadian Plymouth brochures (P-581 and P-582) and there is no mention of a dual quad set up. The Fury does not appear in the Canadian brochures and the only V8 mentioned is the 313, with either a 2-bbl carb or optional (single) 4-bbl Power Pack. The brochure on the Allpar site is the American Plymouth edition. You can tell by the wheel cover. As well as the mention of the Fury series.

The 1958 Canadian parts book lists a dual carb set up for the US Fury 318, but no listing for a Canadian dual quad application.

I just met the fellow ("Lou") at KMS Tools in Coquitlam for the first time the other day. He said it was a factory option. I had no reason to not believe him. I will go back out there, maybe this week, with my camera and try to get more info, etc.

Nope. Red and white and it was just a Suburban, not Sport Suburban.

Needs more investigation.

The only investigation that's needed is to order what I believe will be a rather disappointing CHS build sheet for less than $100 to disprove or substantiate this claim. Dealer added/garage added is very different from "factory built" when dealing with an advertised exclusive motor. Even the lesser-than-Fury cars that were built with the optional golden commando did not receive the Fury gauge cluster with the 150 speedo. I seem to recall a red/white Savoy-style Suburban for sale at some point within the past decade that the owner claimed to be a "factory" Fury dual quad 318 motor with a 150 Fury speedometer. I wonder if this is that car? Did this car make its way to Canada?

The one in the Youtube is very similar to the one I saw the outside and interior (but no engine bay (yet)) of, except it is red and white, i.e. the side swoop is white not black.

I was by KMS Tools yesterday regarding some paint and saw and spoke with Lou again. I mentioned that some people here on the FL forum didn't think that a Canadian 313 dual 4s wagon could be real. I mentioned that there was a 318 dual four "V800" in the US but he re-iterated that his was a 313 and that the PNs on the intake manifold were factory numbers. The manifold was on the car with the carbs when he bought it (he says).

The car is tucked away for the winter but when he gets a chance he will check out the engine number to confirm 313.

I won't see the car again until next spring.

Was it this one? I sold it years ago to a guy in Ontario and I saw it up for sale again a couple of years ago. Maybe it wound up in your neck of the woods.

Definitely looks the same (I didn't have my camera that day). What carb(s) were on it when you sold it into Ontario?
