Well, I never thought I would sell this one so quick, but I have made a couple of life-changing decisions and selling the car is one of them. I am not selling to cash in and buy other cars, etc... I am really taking a break from the car scene altogether for a while, so I will not be replacing this one, otherwise, I would have just kept it.

Anyway, the CDN dollar is fluctuating a lot these days, and it is hard to price this one, so eBay is the way to go, with a reserve set at pretty much what the car is costing me. The market will decide what it's worth.

Go ahead, friends, pick it apart at your convenience, I won't be offended, it's part of the game.

I think my description of the car is honest and really gives a good sense of what it is I am selling.

What's there to pick apart?
Other then you're missing an oilpan bolt and something is leaking and rustproofing the steering linkage
Looks like a nice car.

Good luck with what ever caused the sale of your car.

Haha, I knew there would be something!

I just checked right now, and there are no bolts missing...! Maybe it's the dark picture... or your eyes? One bolt is black, maybe giving the illusion that it's not there, but no bolt is missing.

As for the "leakage", I know this will sound stupid, but the drops you see are just proof of my sloppy cleanup from the former leak that we just fixed.. I should have wiped clean everything and I did not. I should wipe it clean and take other pictures...

Thanks for the good words. I do have other projects in mind, and all the changes look promising and positive!

Beautiful car. Sorry to hear that you want to/need to sell it after all that work.

*IF* I was being critical, I would suggest that you carefully sand down that goopy patch on the roof, probably starting at 200 grit and working towards 2000 grit and good polish to make become much less noticeable, if not disappear entirely.

IF I was being critical.

I won't do it. The whole point of that pic is to clearly show that flaw. The bidders know it is there and I will let the next owner take care of it. At this point, I am done with old cars for a while.

Sure is a beauty! I think you'll come out of it in good shape - after all, it's one of the most sought after FLs on the plannet.

Good luck with your sale.

Thanks for the good words! Sure, I will still hang around this forum. I have met a lot of great people here and I will keep contributing. Pretty sure I will own another old car and most probably another FL mopar at some point, but for now I will take a break of owning one.

Good luck with the sale, David. I'm glad you will be still posting with the forum here, your input is always welcome.
I get the feeling you'll be owning another FL sometime down the road, too!

Maybe not right around the corner, but some day!

Although I just turned 40 years old, I have been in old cars for more than 30 years, as my dad always had collector cars and we did this hobby together for the most part. So, it will always be part of my life, but I really gotta put my ressources (time, money, space, efforts) elsewhere for a while.

I sure hope it sells to a member here and it will stay with us.

I remember your green Mayfair?? I believe you had before and always thought it was a beauty too. Is it still around? I never had seen anything of it that I recall after you sold it. I really liked that car and probably would prefer it just because it was so unique.

Yep, the 59 Mayfair was a superb car, and mostly an unrestored survivor. Very solid original, with only 40k miles on the clock when I sold it.

The guy I sold it to takes great care of it: his grandpa had one identical, even the same colour, when new, and he bought it to just take care of it as a family treasure. It never sees rain or bad weather and is only driven occasionaly to local shows in Montreal.

Congratulations David! Those life changes are difficult to get to and make - but once you make the decision and chart a new course, all is well again.
Now, let's see the bidding go up, up, up and away!

David, you have had some great cars over the years - I hope you will stick around!

Yes, my ex-Mayfair and both of my ex-58 Dodge Regent coupes now reside in the Montreal area. In fact, the blue 58 Regent coupe I sold a year and a half ago is very near Louiseville.

I never understood how people could just stop driving and enjoying these cars, I always think driving these old Mopars is part of how we live our lives.

I`ve seen it now from guys who always wanted everybody to know what they have and how much they know about these vehicles,
as well as from guys who looked like these vehicles were part of who and how they are.

I`ve never thought about it either, I guess, since I do know that we`re all different and do things for different reasons.

The above mentioned e-bay auction for this `58 seems to be doing very well too, still surprises me how much these cars are supposed to be worth in 2017!

Since this is my car sale thread, and it's clear from my initial post that I am taking a break from owning an old car for some personal reasons, I am not too sure how I should interpret your post here, Marty?

Are you implying that I am one of these "guys who always wanted everybody to know what they have and how much they know about these vehicles"?... Have I annoyed you in any way over the years? Have I done anything to you that would trigger this quite judgmental response on your part?

Anyway, I believe you shouldn't judge anyone by some internet posts and especially not judge their reasons for doing whatever they want with their cars or their lives without knowing them personaly. I still love these old cars as much as I did, but I think I have every right to quit the hobby for a while if I decide to, and do not have to justify my decisions to the Internet police in any way!

Peace.

Ebay only charges a set fee unlike anything else sold on there...i think they use 2 fees for cars...a listing fee and a final sale fee....last time i sold a car on there it was like $145-ish

Yes David you have helped me out a few times as well and I really appreciated it. Even when I'm searching for information through older posts, I always see your name helping someone out. There are a few self proclaimed experts that I've seen only speak up to criticise someone work and I truly don't think they fully understand what a hobby is about.. Anyway I hope you still hang around here.

They say if you are a little over something or getting bored, walk away for a while so you don't end up hating it..

Good luck mate.

Well, just an update on this. Car was paid in full soon after the auction end, and has been picked up at my house last Friday en route to .... Europe, of course! This Plymouth will be driven on Belgian roads in the near future.

36,600$ usd was a pretty good final price. Wonder if a Barrett Jackson would have gotten more? I thought I saw Christine clones going for like 45 ish...

You had a lot of work into it also it seems.. of course off to Europe.

I'm still trying to figure out how Europeans can appreciate these cars more than Americans... I mean we love the 57 chebies! but a fwl car? I'm thinking its simply exposure.

Well, it was pretty close around the corner after all.. I just bought another old car, but not a FL: a 1959 Pontiac Parisienne sport coupe. Not sure I will keep it, but I couldn’t pass, as it was really cheap, and getting neglected. I saved it from an almost certain death.

For the US Forum members, a Canadian Pontiac Parisienne is kind of the equivalent of a Plodge, i.e. like a Canadian Dodge is mostly a US Plymouth with a Dodge front clip, a Canadian Pontiac was build on a 119" Chevy X-frame chassis using Chevy drive train componets and special non-US body panels.

The Pontiac "Strato Chief" had similar trim level and upholstery as Chevrolet's "Biscayne", the "Laurentian" matched the trim level of the Chevrolet "Bel Air" and while the Parisienne offered similar amenities as Chevrolet's "Impala". Nice cars. My sister and husband had a 65 Parisienne 4dr hardtop back in the day.

The Neither Region would be appropriate for the posting of your new adventure or should we let the administrator decide Just a friendly reminder there are Pontiac forums if you haven;t discovered them yet I suggest you search one out.

Hi!

Geez, is this really worth getting the Internet police out after me?

This is the first time I post non-FL stuff on this board in more than ten years of contribution and thousands upon thousands of posts, I don't really need a reminder about the subject of this forum, thank you. Your "friendly reminder" does not sound so friendly the second time around, since you are litterally inviting me to search for other forums to go to.

I realize this is a FL discussion board, and a FL discussion section, but this is actually MY OWN THREAD, about MY OWN 1958 PLYMOUTH SALE. Some people asked about what happened after I sold my 1958 PLYMOUTH, some members did in private messages too, so I am merely answering by posting these pictures, not starting an "offensive" Pontiac thread, which I have no intention to do anyway.

I will no longer post in this thread.

Peace.

David: Glen will come to his senses (eventually). In the meantime, ignore his suggestions. I think it is fine to see what you bought. Nice car.

Please continue to post here.

Great Parisienne, great colour. I briefly drove a convertible like that when i was in high school, until i realized it was just too crappy to be on the road. I might try to resurrect it someday... I see a couple of things that are different, my car came with blanked-out reverse lights, and did not have the front teeth on the bumper.

Really!! I must be of a different understanding and forgive me for thinking that someone with the foresight when designing this forum actually designed and designated a region as for said The Nether Region which is appropriate for type of posting. I'm sure we all have other unique finds to discuss please consider the members on this site when posting. I just seen this the other day by another member Quote; Get Off My Lawn

She is a beauty. I had a white 1960 Impala with Turquoise metallic interior. Just beautiful. Had several 1959/60 El Camino's too!
