Expert 5K+ Posts: 9902 Location: Lower Mainland BC | Finally figured out the PN (not cast into the flags themselves): 1599 218. In addition to the 1956 Dodges with the D-500 option, they were originally used on the 1954 Indy pace car. Mine on my 56 Custom Royal D-500 sedan, aren't in the best shape, even with repainting the black parts of the flags. I would like to purchase a better pair (or even one) if possible. Expert 5K+ Posts: 9902 Location: Lower Mainland BC | Marc: I see in one thread that I had previously figured out the part number. I forgot that I had done that. As for the other thread, with D500Neil and Tennessee Ernie Ford's car in it, I don't understand why you pointed me to it. I just want to buy some crossed flags that are nicer than mine.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9902 Location: Lower Mainland BC | In a pinch, I would consider the repro's if anybody had one or two for sale. (BUT I would prefer the original ones with no borders). Edited by 56D500boy 2017-08-26 7:47 PM

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9902 Location: Lower Mainland BC | Powerflite - 2017-12-09 10:56 PM What happened to the original ones on your car? Do you have the holes in the car for them? Oops. I must have confused you Nathan. I have both the front and rear D500 badges. I have cleaned and polished them and repainted the black bits. They still have "patina" (pits) and I was hoping to find better ones. They are both back on the car, installed with the cast pins on the back of the badge, through the uncorroded holes in the hood and trunk that they left the factory in. I've used new "nuts" on them. This is a photo of my rear badge:

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9902 Location: Lower Mainland BC | 56D500boy - 2017-12-09 9:21 PM Found and bought a NOS one. Still looking for one more. Picked up the New Old Virgin Stock badge today. This thing has never been on a car - ever. Beautiful. I am posting these photos so others have some guidance if they are restoring theirs (polishing, plating and painting). Still still looking for one more. Expert 5K+ Posts: 9902 Location: Lower Mainland BC | I finally found another NOS D500 badge. Phil W. from this forum saw my Aug. 2017 post recently and contacted me 10 days ago. We did a deal and now I have the second NOS badge to replace my painted ones. Thanks very much Phil. Here is the new one: Edited by 56D500boy 2018-07-31 7:25 PM (1599218_Front.jpg) (1599218_Rear.jpg) (1599218_Box.jpg) Attachments ---------------- 1599218_Front.jpg (81KB - 109 downloads) 1599218_Rear.jpg (67KB - 105 downloads) 1599218_Box.jpg (69KB - 122 downloads)

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9902 Location: Lower Mainland BC | I was taking photos of my spare front and rear "Vee" badges and the front and rear frames for the Dodge medallions to send to a plating firm for an estimate and decided to look at the two D500 badges (one of which I got yesterday). In doing so, I discovered that they are not the same. They both look good but I like the first one I got better than the second. I suspect the second one that I got yesterday is real and the first one is either a different OE supplier or a repro done at some point. Won't matter. They look good and nobody can see the front and rear at the same time. For reference, the better of the two that came on my car looks like this (below) which is closer to the second NOS badge than the first: (TwoNOSD500Badges.jpg) (NOS_1599218_D500Badge_1.jpg) (NOS_1599218_D500Badge_2.jpg) Attachments ---------------- TwoNOSD500Badges.jpg (109KB - 100 downloads) NOS_1599218_D500Badge_1.jpg (86KB - 111 downloads) NOS_1599218_D500Badge_2.jpg (86KB - 108 downloads)

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9902 Location: Lower Mainland BC | Just cleaning up the basement in advance of Christmas guests and putting away/organizing 56 Dodge bits that I have been accumulating. One of the items is the D-500 badges. Turns out that "magically" (through eBay and PayPal) I have accumulated 4 new D-500 badges, two of which will go on the car in the spring. 1. Supposedly NOS but probably a repro - the first one that I had seen - paid too much in retrospect- discussed above 2. NOS 1599 218 previously discussed in this thread - not cheap but not bad for new in a box (NIB) 3. Another new repro - real cheap -US$20 with shipping nabbed it one morning at around 5:30 must have just been listed as Buy it Now. So I did. 4. A beauty from Mopar direct for US$40 with shipping. It's the best so far. It won't go on the car. The other two repros will. https://www.ebay.ca/itm/1956-Dodge-D-500-Royal-Lancer-Checkered-Flag... The Mopar direct badge: I think I have enough. Merry Christmas to me.
