Looking for someone who would be available on the 25th of September at 2:00PM to buy a Plymouth on my behalf. Seller will only entertain cash in person for the car and he wants car gone immediately after sale; I can't do this myself because of work and the fact that I live in Texas. Willing to pay $500 for your time as well as fuel costs if you can pay for and pick the car up in person. Once picked up, you'll have to hang onto the car until I can arrange for auto transport so the car can be shipped from you to me.

Car is located somewhere near Lake Isabella California, about 40-50 miles outside of Bakersfield. PM or reply for more details.

You could hire a tow truck to pick it up, and even have the driver hand over the money. The tough part would be storing it...but even so a lot of tow truck drivers would have a place to store it, too. Especially in more remote areas where storage is cheap.

You can store it at my place. But I am about 120 miles from there. Unfortunately, I don't have a way to pick it up.

So - how is the person supposed to get the money from you ?

If you wire it to them it shows up as income that they pay taxes on - unless they have an account at a bank that is used to them receiving large transactions it is going to set off a red flag.

Any deposit into an account over $10,000 requires a form be submitted to the IRS & the state income tax agency - it might be even a lesser amount than that.

I picked up a car once from a guy that was mailed a box of cash by the Buyer - I think it was sent by Fedex.

I am full in Concord, CA ....

Leaving tomorrow for Southern California down I-5.

If you want someone to set eyes on the car to make sure it exists - I might be able to help you out - but I have no interest in acting as your agent to purchase or handling any money.

Jim

the seller demands cash only. He is sending you the money to give to him.

I understand the apprehension but it shouldn't cause any problems.

Exactly. Big M may be able to do it for me, I'm waiting to hear back from him.

yeah, I'd hate to run the risk of showing up on a terrorist watch list or in serious trouble with the IRS over buying a 50 year old car. Them federales go apes**t over that sort of thing.....if you visit any of the major federal penitentiaries they're full of rapists. murderers, drug dealers, and people who helped out others by handling the 10000% completely legal purchase of old cars.

Reading that just made my day. That was hilarious.

Also, after looking at some other pics in a different thread, I decided against the car due to rust in really bad places.
