Elite Veteran Posts: 873 Location: ALABAMA, HEART OF DIXIE | The injection sysyems were recalled and replaced with a dual 4bbl induction system. Very few of these exist.

Veteran Posts: 141 Location: Chattanooga | Those fuel injection emblems are the coolest emblems ever made! There was some talk about reproducing them on this site a while back. Does anybody know what happened to that effort? I know I sure would like to have a set to go with my other emblems.

Expert Posts: 2524 Location: Houston | All the stuff needed to fire the injectors which would include a 'brain', sensors, connectors, etc. plus the air cleaners and all the little impossible to find brackets and springs and stuff. You'd go nuts trying to replace or locate all those parts. If you chose to not do so and use 'modern' pieces instead, you might as well use a modern intake (Ebay $100) and some injectors (Ebay $300) and some throttle bodies (Ebay $400)

In 1958 Chrysler paid the Thatcher Garage to convert Southern California Fuel Injection cars back to carb setups. Chrysler provided complete setups in custom wood crates to Norm with the intentions that Norm would swap them out and place the FI setups into them. Once filled, the crates and FI setups would then be sent back to Chrysler for disposal. Norm was a VERY upright guy, but his shop consisted of semi-young mechanics. True gear heads and hot rodders.
The way I heard the story was that a number of crates were prepped for shipment and scheduled for a Monday pickup, however when Norm got to work early Monday morning he found a window smashed out and only the crates were missing. I was told the police were called and a report was filed (I wonder if this would still be in the LAPD records somewhere???).
Although I'm positive Norm knew nothing of it, I heard that his mechanics thought it was an inside job and had a strong idea who it was.
Fast forward to around 1985 when a local classified ad popped up for a complete 1958 FI setup in Los Angeles. The Gentleman who told me the story had seen the ad and arranged to see the setup out of the back of a vehicle. It was in a wood crate. The topic of old MoPars continued for a while until the seller mentioned he used to work for Norm Thatcher. After naming a large price the guy and the parts disappeared.
I believe this story is true. If it is, there are a couple setups floating around Southern California. If so, there's a very good chance the parts were separated and they'll continue to turn up piece by piece.
I attempted to track down the employee who I think it may have been in 2010. He passed away in Arleta back around 2009. He also had Norm's 1959 Dodge racecar and around the time he died his property was cleared of cars and parts.
