Century Motors in Philadelphia, Pa. is parting out what appears to be a complete
1960 Desoto hardtop. Looks straight with good glass but bad rockers.
Sorry, I can't post pictures. Found this on Phila. craigslist under auto parts,
just enter Desoto under search. Looks too nice to part out.

I went to look at this car a couple of weeks ago.

I grabbed the taillights - housings are pretty poor with pitting but the lenses are decent.

Most of the missing trim is either in the trunk or in the car - didn't look at it in detail but it all looked pretty straight.

The body is super rough - lots and lots of rust, rockers, floors, trunk, etc.

Interior is pretty haggard - not much there.

Didn't look under the hood.

The yard it's in is on 61st Street off of Passyunk Avenue in south Philly. If you've never been on that part of 61st Street it's a unique and interesting place. Boulevard wide with auto recyclers, salvage and scrap yards on both sides for about a mile, spilling out into the street. Controlled chaos. And the occasional Tony Soprano type in a Cadillac with wire wheels or even a Ferrari. Century Motors (where this car is) is most likely a mob operation - not many junkyards are staffed by guys named Nicky in $500 shoes if you get my drift. That being said they were great guys to deal with, the yard is clean and organized, and I got what I felt was a good deal on the taillights. They have a pretty fair number of older cars, and some Mopar stuff, but nothing else in the fin era. They told me that this car - and the other vintage cars they have - will not be crushed, but will sit until picked clean or sold. One other thing - this is not an "open" yard - if you go back to look at something you are only allowed in the yard with an escort. I don't know if you do your own disassembly (the lights were already off and in a box) but I suspect that all depends on what they think of you when you get there.

Hi Steve

No, not really. $100 for the pair, the lenses look pretty good. I'll have to clean them up but I think they'll end up on the car.

Unfortunately the license surround and reverse lights were already gone . . .

Are you going to Riegelsville on Sunday?
