Subject: Rear Outside Door Handle Repair

The rear door handles of the 57-59 FL have a weak link. In all of my spare handles this link has bent or collapsed preventing the handle releasing the door lock mechanism.
Photo 1,2 is a NOS handle which has already started to collapse, after only a few uses.
Photo 3 shows (left) the result of many years of use, and (right) a typical repair.
Photo 4,5 is what I've come up with to alleviate the problem.

Obviously there are a hundred different ways to fix this weak link so has anybody else come up with a solution?
