In the spring of 2015 I found a Craigslist ad for cars being disposed of in nearby Riverside California by a well-known restorer for one
of his customers. Many turned out to be Forward Look cars and when I inquired I found many project cars of many makes. When
asking about convertibles I was shown a 1960 Imperial already sold, a 1962 Dodge 880, and then a forgotten in a cargo container
1960 Plymouth at a different location than the other two. The Fury was torn apart in 1990 and put into a storage container. I was
able to acquire the Plymouth if I bought 3 1961 G hardtop parts cars. I shipped the
Plymouth back to Wisconsin, after sorting through the car to see what was present and what was missing. There were NOS seat
covers and patch panels for the rear quarters and rockers. There was an original floor pan from a solid Plymouth. There was a 1990
Illinois license plate reading "Fury 60." The steering wheel was the upgraded one and had beautiful patina, so no restoration was
required. The front fenders were solid around the headlights and in the lower rear areas, especially for an Illinois car. I was able to
find the nearly impossible to find splash pan at Don Petty's. It was solid and most thought mangled beyond repair but it turned out
fine. I found better and missing stainless at Gary Grosich's.
Since the 1960 Petal Pink Windsor convertible was finished at a body shop, this Plymouth went there for further disassembly. The shop
agreed to take on the project. The 318 engine and transmission were sent for restoration and seat materials and door panels were sent
to the upholsterer. The orders went in to Gary Goers and Doug Pollock. The stainless and chrome were dispatched to the shops for
restoration. Chrysler Historical records said it was sold originally at Key Auto Sales in Terre Haute, Indiana. The car was originally one
color, Buttercup Yellow, and interior was the only one available for that color, Caramel. There were not a lot of options on the car and it
was rebuilt as pretty much it's original. I did switch top color to black from white.
The car underwent a rotisserie restoration and was recently assembled. Now here is a bit of the story in pictures.

Good job. Way to take a leap of faith and have it work out for you. Congrats

Question: Why does it look like the car is in Arizona now?

Another nice job, Paul!!

I wonder if that was part of the large collection in the high desert the collector passed away, and the collection was dispersed through local collectors? I bought several Merc Turnpike cruisers about 8 years ago that were stored the same way, one was half restored.

egads one of the ugliest fords on earth?  people actually want that car?

Its worse than 58 GM cars... very similar.  :wince: :wince:  I would put the car back to single headlight.  Ford was so desperate to catch up to Chrysler in 57 duals they DID THAT TO THAT POOR CAR!...

The Turnpike Cruiser had the quad headlights when it was introduced. Ford of Canada, though, offered the Turnpike Cruiser with quad headlamps,or dual. The dual arrangement was the same as used on regular Mercury models. Attached is a photo of a Canadian Monarch Turnpike Cruiser without the quad headlamps.

Neat, Paul! Great work on that 1960 Plymouth convertible. I enjoyed reading the story of how you bought it and seeing all the images.
