Expert 5K+ Posts: 9900 Location: Lower Mainland BC | There is a bit of history about Walker and Company Signs Detroit at this website: https://blog.detroithistorical.org/2013/11/19/walker-company/ One of their other signs from the 1940's (an assembly line of Plymouth/Desoto dealership signs): I think the Imperial Sign has Jay Leno's name written all over it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rwur6xqYcM Edited by 56D500boy 2017-12-17 10:42 AM

Location: Parts Unknown | Go online and look into what neon/porcelain signs go for. This is not out of line at all.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9665 Location: So. Cal | I bet that NeonSignInUSA or Wesco signs would build you a brand new one for quite a bit cheaper than that. Sure, it wouldn't have the vintage heritage, but you could make it look the same - or customize it for your specific purpose, and spend a lot less money.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9665 Location: So. Cal | Apparently one sold in 2014 for $11K, and another in 2015 for $7K. I wouldn't expect its value to have gone up to $25K by now. https://www.barrett-jackson.com/Events/Event/Details/Ultra-rare-1950... https://www.barrett-jackson.com/Events/Event/Details/Rare-1950s-Chry...

I think the big unknown is that this sign is brand new, not used or restored. $25k still seems optimistic though.... maybe closer to $15-$17k?

Location: Parts Unknown | In the early 90's I looked into having reproduction DeSoto-Plymouth dealership signs made. The tooling and work priced the first porcelain coated sign blank at north of $10K. To make a double-sided sign with added neon (the then-price for neon bending was $9 per foot) was going to make for some very expensive signs. Of course, spread out over a production run of 100 or 1000 and the cost might come down substantially. But how many could one market ? I am not a big dollar sign guy, but I know a few who are. The money these guys toss around for exotic old signs would blow most people away.

Expert Posts: 3887 Location: Northen Virginia | seems expensive, but if someone offered 1.5 million to find 2 of theses signs in NOS crate condition nobody would ever call to collect. Some stuff are priceless, but if this sign was for a Chevrolet or Cadillac will be long sold
