Subject: 1961 Chrysler shift cable

How hard is it to remove and re-install the shift cable. I have noticed alot of people leaving the cable attached to the transmission when they remove the transmission.

Here's what you're dealing with, the cable end clips into the adapter and is retained by the spring wire; to remove the cable you push in the end of the spring wire to release it.

correct and you will have to do it anyway to adjust it properly. the fsm procedure works but its never perfectly aligned, the way it should.
