I have a line on a 1957 Imperial 4 door hardtop. Owned by an old lady whose husband passed away a few years ago. She needs to sell the car so she car sell the garage and property. Car was last driven in 1991, sitting inside since. 392 Hemi turns over with a breaker bar. Trying to get more info, but was told it will need a total restoration. What are these cars worth?

I really don't *have* a clue (and I can get that certified by a Notary Public) *BUT* I do know how to search *for* clues:

https://classiccars.com/listings/find/1957-1959/chrysler/imperial

https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/?0=0&adtypeFacet=Vehicles%20for...

https://www.kijiji.ca/b-classic-cars/canada/chrysler-imperial/c122l0...

Good luck.

Probably $3000-5000, all depending on condition. They are nice cars, I have 3

I agree with Garrett - they are wroth just a little more than what you can sell the hemi motor for.

Can someone decode the data plate? Looks like there is also a 1962 TorqueFlite trans as well (single piece transmission housing and bell housing with brake drum). Interior is ROUGH. He hasn't tried to open the door, but he was going to try to get some pictures of the rockers and floor pans.

It's a base model Imperial (they started calling it a Custom in '58). Gonna be on the lower end of that range I think. Was this car ever on craigslist? The exterior shot looks familiar but maybe I'm just thinking of another one I saw.

Yes, for Base model but they didn't get the Custom name until 1959

The honest truth is it's worth a hair more than just the Hemi. Would be worth more money if it was broken up into parts and sold off. That car would be an immensely expensive restoration project, far more costly than what it is worth (in dollars).

It's a shame, too... I like the Imperials.

that's a serious restore... costing a lot. probably 15-20k$ on the super cheap with you doing all the work, the parts for 4 doors are fairly available though. I'm seeing rust in the front fender so you have to assume the rockers are gone, floors look okay. New steering wheel/dash... new headliner, new seats/carpet, door panel look okay)figure 5k for interior... New lenses, welding/sanding/priming/painting, glass looks usable(cheap exterior fix up 5-10k), new chrome would probably run 5-6k, side mirrors 400$ gas tank 300$, engine refresh 2k$, trans?, driveline. lines, brakes, and suspension refresh 2000$, lean and paint frame 1000$, sandblasting various parts 1000$. if you want the body/frame sandblasted/primered that like 2000$ just for those.

a 4 door imperial running and in good shape is only worth 10-20-30 maybe 40k for a concourse car for a 4 door. Barely "cost"... a 4 door just isn't desirable, this guy should have put 2 door hardtop or a convert in that garage for the long haul.

thats not a rare model

here is a good driver for 10k Canadian... so that's like 7500$ usd. I expect it to sell quick at that price. Car flippers buy these for 8-10k and ask 17-20k.

It popped up on the Chicago CL this weekend. Asking $4800. Realistic price of the car with a free turning 392 is $3200-$3500. If the motor is stuck, cut the number in about half. As great of a car that these are, the market has sadly left them in the dust, with the exception of the convertibles of course. No restoration candidate here unless your are a glutton for punishment.
