Looks solid! Might be a good find if you like the 59's.

That's one of the 1,100 cars from the Cayuma car gardens that sold recently.

John,

What is happening with the rest of the "garden"? Who owns the property now that Tom Merkel has passed?

Jon,
His brother, Henry is selling everything in order to pay the back taxes on the property. I was up there last week extracting two '57 Plymouths, there are only about 200 cars and trucks remaining.

The guy couldn't even wait to get home to take photos! Pity he hasn't loaded any photos of the engine that only needs "a good tune up to run"

I would shake my head when people would book their motorcycles in for a "tune up" and think it would solve all their problems.

Were there any other good Forward Look cars there on the property? Glad they're being saved and not just sent to the crusher.

Lot of the same harping. everyone of you people that cry/bellyache over a person buying and resellng a car. You got the same chance they had to buy it. If there wasnt people out there like that bringing these cars to the surface what do you suppose the fate of them would be. Ive done that to fund what i got and am planning on keeping. Some of the stuff i brought to the surface most of them were scrapyard bound by family members that just dont care. So deal with it

I really question the mental capacity of someone who lists a car as a '57 when it is quite obviously a '59.

At the end of the day I guess you're correct but your comment about "Everyone has the same chance to buy it", then go on to say "if it wasn't for these people bringing them to the surface...." kind of cancel each other out but I do know what you mean.. If the people are walking around knocking on doors asking to sell the old car sitting in the garage or paddock, well that's fine or if a car isn't selling etc.

People who are FL restorers or lovers who are funding their own projects are fine. I think everyone is referring to the sellers who wake up one morning and know these cars are selling for good money and find a flip.

If it boils down it, I believe this kind of business makes it hard for the starting out young or even old FL enthusiast to get himself a nice deal with a very workable car. There have been so many nice deals I've seen but are gone within minutes only to arise a week later with a huge price. There are actual computer programs and websites that alert people when certain model cars come up for sale. The program searches google for new listings....

So yeah everyone is free to make decisions, buy, sell, flip, cry and some people won't like it but that's just how it is nowadays..

while i do not like flippers, theres nothing wrong with that. way, way better than some young ignorant punk who gets it cheap and because its a cheap, obsolete pos anyway, that never ran right from the factory (thats what these little, spoiled c**** believe) cuts it into pieces to create some "cool" ride with 20+" rims, a new drivetrain and hacked up suspension. or some idiot who thinks they could learn how to chop a top on a rare fl coupe.... i've seen it countless times before, so many nice cars have been needlessly destroyed by these idiots. just like the nice 56 belvedere coupe (rip) recently that survived over 60 years just to fall into the hands of some fool. if the price gets higher, its less likely that some punk cuts it into pieces or uses it for a demolition derby. thats my opinion.

flip it, cut it up, smash it. Its their car, I don't have a problem with that and I don't think 7500$ is a bad price. I dunno about the whole missing title thing though, that can get tricky and cost a bit sometimes.

Maybe its cheap in CA but not here.

Getting a title here for that car would involve some paperwork, VIN verification, time spent in line at DMV, plus titling fee, under $100, or use a registration service, about $350

Not that many that I saw, although many cars had been removed from the property then. There were three '57 Belvedere 4-door sedans, one had been consumed by the forest fire there years ago, and I bought the other two.
