Member Posts: 16 | Can anyone help me figure out what I am missing to get my horn button to work correctly? I have been looking for instructions for the horn assembly with no luck. We have checked the relay and the horns they work well. The problem seems to be under the chrome button. I do not know if I am missing a spring or have the wrong horn ring. When I tighten down the chrome cover, I cannot push the center down and get the horn to actuate. I have attached photos of the steering wheel and button. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. In fact, if you can't get the horn to work by pushing on the brown fibre material (and making the required contacts), the issue is with the downstream bits, including (possibly) the horn relay on the inside drivers-side fender. Those three screws should have springs under that plate and the plate should move. http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/get-attachment.asp?action=... Edited by 56D500boy 2018-02-01 5:26 PM | ||

The center section of the wheel does not actuate the horn contact, it is actually the outer ring on the wheel which is missing in your pictures. I think I have an extra one that was repaired by someone that I would sell you cheap if you can't find a good one. I was thinking that there was a stripper version that didn't have horn ring like my 56 Custom Royal. I just finished going through some of the 56 Dodge photos that I have archived and I would say that even the most basic 6 cylinder Coronet had a horn ring. Like this one (2dr, 6 cylinder, 3 spd manual) - still came with a horn ring.
