My power steering just went out and was wondering if someone knew where to have it rebuilt, or where I could get parts or a used one? Symptoms: was driving and the car darted to the right and I could barely turn back to go straight, could barely steer and could barely turn to the left. Any advice/expertise would be appreciated, any ideas? Thanks, Dave Poston

Careful with Lares, had problems with their workmanship rebuilding the 55 box.

Thanks for responses. I was thinking of possibly converting to a later model style box and cutting the steering column and putting an adapter to modify? Any thoughts or suggestions and do you know of any other box that could work with my stock suspension? Really want to keep the stock look/steering wheel, etc. Thanks, Dave

Did you do any troubleshooting? Is there fluid in the pump? Any leaking hoses? Do you think it's the pump or steering box? If you can isolate the problem more - we can offer better recommendations . Thanks.

Before spending $$$$ on jury rigging something that may not work, why don't you diagnose the problem ? Is there fluid in the pump ? Are there puddles under the steering box ? Have you gone through the diagnostics in the shop manual ?

Ron
