As I'm a nut for looking into these kinds of things..

Is the Dash in the 56 Dodge Coronet the Same Dash as in the 56 Custom Royal ?

First of all we need to be clear that you are talking D63 56 Dodge here, right?

Assuming that is correct, the Coronet Dash is basically the same as the Custom Royal. HOWEVER, the Custom Royal got some chrome dash trim pieces that the Coronet did not get. The Royals did get that dash trim either.

Here is an example 56 D63 Coronet dash:

Here is a 56 Royal:

And finally a 56 Custom Royal:

Okay so yes they are the same. I wanted to make sure I wasn't just seeing things.

I know on my custom royal it says "Full time power steering" in script on the steering wheel insert - It looks like the Royal and Coronet may be missing that

They are missing that because they do NOT have power steering. Your's does.

That's the power steering pump attached to the back of your car's generator.

What is that vertical lever on the dash next to the steering wheel? I see it on the left in the Coronet & Royal, but on the right on the Custom Royal. Is it on both sides of the steering wheel? What is it? The only difference I see between Coronet & Royal is the E-brake light. But the CR has a lot of extra trim. On the Plymouth's it is similar with the Belvedere and Fury having a lot more chrome bits on it.

I all three trim levels, the lever on the left of the steering column is the HEAT control, Labeled "Cool" and "Warm" - it move the cable that opens and closes the heater valve in the passenger footwell.

The lever on the right of the steering column is the headlight switch - three positions, i.e. OFF, PARK, ON

Cool. I never would have guessed the headlight switch was operated like that.

The headlight switch style for the 1956 Dodges depended on the transmission choice. *IF* you went for the std transmission, the switch was on the far left of the instrument cluster and had mulitple functions, i.e. park lights, headlights *AND* instrument cluster lights. If you chose the Powerflite, there was no room for that style switch and it became a lever switch as shown in those photos. The instrument cluster light is a separate switch down beside the steering column, as shown below.

The headlight switch with Powerflite was PN 1689 606 and was similar to this (and see below):

The headlight switch with standard trans was PN 1688 966 and used these knobs:
