Time to start planning for the Truman presentation!

**Sunday, March 18 – Truman Presentation & Pot Luck @ Forney Museum, 4303 Brighton BLVD, Denver 80216 Meet at 11:30 for a potluck lunch starting at 12:30. Enter through the side door in the rear parking lot. If you bring a collector car you can park in the front lot. Bring either a side dish or desert to share. WPC will provide a meat dish or two. Coffee and soda, plus plates and utensils will also be provided. Members of area Mopar clubs have been invited to attend. Admittance will be a very minimal $5 per person. NOTE: This does not include admission to the museum floor. About 1:30 Lloyd Barger will entertain us with a talk on President Harry Truman’s love of Chrysler cars and the adventures of his 30,000-mile Whistle-Stop train tour. This promises to be a lively and interesting presentation. For details call Ivy @ 303-294-9898

Is anyone else planning to go?  I am planning to attend and, weather permitting, bring the De Soto.  Gotta figure out my side dish!

I may have a green beer hangover that day!

PRESIDENT TRUMAN PRESENTATION & POT LUCK LUNCH

MARCH 18, 2018 AT FORNEY MUSEUM of TRANSPORTATION,        4303 BRIGHTON BLVD, DENVER, CO 80216

Join the Rocky Mountain Region WPC Club and other area Mopar Clubs for a potluck lunch and presentation beginning at 11:30. Lunch will start at 12:30 and the presentation at 1:30.  Please enter through the side door in the rear parking lot.  If you bring a collector car you can park in the front lot.  Please bring either a meat or side dish or dessert to share.  Chicken, soft drinks, coffee and eating utensils/plates will be provided.  Admission to the lunch and presentation is $5. (NOTE: This does not include admittance to the museum floor.

Local historian Lloyd Barger will give an entertaining and educational program about President Harry Truman.  Mr. Barger will tell us about Truman’s love of Chrysler cars and touring the U.S. to advance his political career.  Nearly all the cars he owned were Plymouths, Dodges or Chryslers and pictures and stories of those vehicles will be presented.  The second part of the program will detail how Truman’s love of trains and train travel resulted in the most historic election upset in U.S. history.  Pictures and fascinating background detail the 31,700-mile whirlwind Whistle Stop Tour held during his campaign in 1948.  Dressed as Mr. Truman, Barger will hold a Presidential press conference at the end of the program so attendees can ask any questions about Truman’s political life.  Mr. Barger is a winner of the National Freedom Foundations Medal for public speaking and was recently awarded a commemorative diploma from Truman State University in Missouri.

This event looks really cool - and the speaker, Lloyd Barger, is highly-accomplished and should be very engaging!  I hope we will get some participation from the Rocky Mountain Region.

I am planning to bring a crock pot o' chili!

Why not take the Dodge instead? It would make Truman happy.

Hi, Nathan!  That's too far for me to push my Dodge!

The Dodge is still a work in progress.  No engine or interior yet.

Oh, I thought you had it mostly done. Guess that puts a damper on that idea.

It looks like you actually could take the Brighton Blvd exit from I-70 and go north, under I-70 and down and around the National Western Complex - then you would be making a RIGHT TURN into the Forney.

I'm not sure they would let you take a Left Turn in from north-bound Brighton Blvd.

Ugh!  Sick as a dog and I couldn't make it there on Sunday.  Still sick today - went into the doctor and tested positive for strep!

Antibiotics should start kicking in soon.  Did anybody attend?  How was it?

Really sorry to miss this one!

Mike, The presentation was really informative, Things we never heard or read about. The pot luck was also fantastic. Very enjoyable. Now I will have to take a trip to visit the museum.
