Member Posts: 8 Location: Huntsville, TX | Having just acquired a scrap yard rescue 1960 Plymouth Fury, I'm hoping someone can help me understand the options on the car as I work to get her back on the road. Edit: I have no idea how to post the darn picture, so I've TRIED to link it... https://images2.imgbox.com/81/94/m6ufFEcd_o.jpg Edited by Dracula 2018-03-12 9:48 AM

Expert Posts: 1819 Location: Vancouver, BC | Not sure what options belongs to what numbers on the tag, but here goes. I suspect the car was built at the Lynch Road plant in Detroit. The Lynch Road recorded numbers on the body tag at the top - where all the "1" are located. The car's serial number should start with - 3 - Car Line / Engine - Plymouth V8 3 - Series - Fury 0 - Model Year - 1960 1 - Assembly plant - - 1 - Lynch Road, Detroit - 5 - Los Angeles, CA - 6 - Newark, DE - 7 - St.Louis, MO The last six digits is for the sequential production number. 100221 would be for the 221st car built. The first was 100001. The tag is generally read left to right, bottom to top. So, bottom row - SO NUMBER : 10123014 (Shipping Order Number) 1012 - Schedule Production Date - October 12, 1959 3014 - Daily sequence number. The "3" usually referred to different car lines - Hamtramck built Dodges, Darts and Valiant in 1960, for example. Lynch Road built only Plymouths, but had three separate assembly lines under one roof. So, the "3" maybe for the assembly line 3. At Hamtramck Darts and Dodges were built on line 1 and Valiants on line 2. BDY - 333 3 - Car Line / Engine - Plymouth V8 3 - Series - Fury 3 - Body Style - 4dr Sedan TRIM - 123 (Interior body trim) 12 - Style and Upholstery - Bench seat, Cloth and Vinyl 3 - Colour - Caramel WB3 - PNT - Exterior paint scheme W - Roof - Oyster White B - Body - Jet Black 3 - Colour Style - Two tone - roof and scalloped section behind front wheel opening in same colour (Oyster White). The next section up has a list of letters A-B-C-D-E-F-G-H-I-K-L-M-N-P-Q-R-S-T-V-W-X-Y-Z for the various options available and represented the first two digits of the sales code. The next row with the numbers is the third digit of the sales code. Have not done enough 1960 Plymouth tags to determine which letter stands for what code group. Anyway, the sales codes for the options we are trying to determine - A - 3 B - 1 G - 8 Q - 1 X - 3 The list of sales codes ending in the numbers listed - "3" - 283 - Torqueflite 293 - Power Seats 313 - Air Conditioning with heater 323 - Antennas, rear. dual 353 - 361 V8 (Only optional engine is entered n tag. No engine code ontag means the car has a 318 poly V8 (distributor at the rear of the engine. All other V8 engines are at the front.) 383 - Mirror - outside left, remote 413 - Stone shields 423 - Golden Touch Tuner Radio "8" - 298 - Door locks, vacuum 348 - Flightsweep deck (false spare tire bolted to trunk lid) 428 - Golden Touch Tuner Radio with rear speaker 588 - Undercoating and hood pad "1" - 291 - Power Steerng 371 - Light package 381 - Mirror - outside left 421 - Music Master radio 431 - Instrument panel - padded 441 - Tinted glass - all windows 461 - Sun Visors - padded 511 - Windshield washers Depending upon the car's condition, hopefully most options you should be able to determine if you have them or not. Hope this helps. Edited by Chrycoman 2018-03-17 8:45 AM

This matches up perfectly with the car. I will have to get the trunk open to ascertain whether or not there is a rear speaker, but there are no provisions for a Flightsweep deck. Hope this helps. The car does have power steering and had an outside left mirror; I'm not familiar enough with the radio to know whether or not it is a Music Master unit. You have been immensely helpful. Thank you so much.
