Expert Posts: 2309 Location: The Bat Cave, Fairborn, OH | I seem to remember that there is (or was) a Doering Motors in suburban Milwaukee. I think they sold Dodge cars mainly. I may have even bought a new 1982 Dodge 400 from them. A nice enough car, but the 2.2 4 cylinder wasn't peppy enough for me and the CV joints went out on the left side at 100,000 miles. Traded it for a Thunderbird with the 302 V-8 (5 liter) The office girl working the mechanical NCR cash register probably explains why the picture was in the Dayton archives. NCR was justly proud of the machines they used to manufacture here in Dayton. Location: Parts Unknown | hergfest - 2018-10-01 6:28 PM Redmond Motor Sales Desoto Plymouth Redmond, WA ============================================== This place stood at the SE end of town. I never knew it as anything but a used car dealership, but a neighbor bought his 56 DeSoto there (he still owned it in the 70's) and told me all about the place. He said he had intended to trade the 56 in on a new 61 DeSoto, but when he went in to do so, was told the brand had been discontinued and they could get no more, so rather than change brands, he kept his 56. I would really like to see a photo of that place as a DeSoto dealership.

Location: Parts Unknown | Thanks ! Utterly amazing. Hardly recognizable to my 1960's-70's time there. The larger photo gives it away as being where the old Avondale Road peeled off at the odd angle to the highway to Fall City, which in turn, helps interpret what I am seeing with the camera facing the other direction. So much had changed by 1970 ! Today, a person could not find it at all. When Microsoft came to town, the whole place was torn up and transformed into a netherworld of boutiques and strip malls for the Microwives to spend their trophy money at. Odd, the two identical Chrysler sedans in the photo.

In July 2015, it seems to be a closed Chrysler Jeep Dealership. By July 2018 it was Providore Fine Foods (and some other shops). "On Feb. 10 (2016), the gourmet food market will launch as the centerpiece tenant at Providore Fine Foods, Portland's European-inspired response to Seattle's Melrose Market, found in the historic, 5,000-square-foot De Soto Building on Northeast 24th Avenue and Sandy Boulevard" REF: https://www.oregonlive.com/dining/index.ssf/2016/02/first_look_provi... Expert Posts: 1819 Location: Vancouver, BC | Someone mentioned that Dodge - Plymouth dealers were not common (or something like that). Prior to the introduction of the 1960 models, Dodge-Plymouth was the largest group of Chrysler Corporation dealers. In 1930 Chrysler Corp. added Plymouth to all Dodge, DeSoto and Chrysler dealers. Prior to that most Plymouth dealers were combined with Chrysler while Dodge and DeSoto were on their own. With the depression and low sales, the addition of Plymouth helped dealers keep afloat and helped Plymouth become #3 in US sales. Anyway, with Dodge dealers handling the new Dart for 1960, Dodge dealers generally dropped the Plymouth, and thus became dealers of Dodge cars and trucks. With the DeSoto being dropped early in the 1961 model year, Plymouth-DeSoto dealers became Plymouth-Chrysler dealers. Apparently there was some house cleaning at the time with dealers losing their dealerships. With Chrysler Corp's poor sales during 1961-62 I can see why there would be some pruning. By the 1963 model year, the dealerships, and divisions, were settled as Dodge and Chrysler-Plymouth. Imperials were handled by the bigger Chrysler dealers. This was only in the U.S. and not in Canada.

That is a Mopar genuine flexible hose replacement, in a virtually new car. Do to pictures like this, it is hard to believe, that the same factory hose will last 60 years in another car as many claim. If you could travel to 1958 and visit a Chrysler dealer, these hoses is what they have for sale at the counter. Edited by hemidenis 2019-01-06 1:43 PM
