Is there such a thing as a Silver Lion? I can't seem to find anything mentioning it. I know there is the Golden Lion...but the one on my car is silver. It's hard to tell about the one on the steering wheel...it's so tiny and what's to say that the steering wheel wasn't replaced? Yes...the engine is a 413, but it's not totally stock anymore so it's hard to see anything. We haven't been able to find any decals or markings on it to verify anything. All we have to go by is the symbols on the door and steering wheel. BTW...before you laugh too hard...I'm a retired female and not too savvy in all things Mopar.

Well, welcome. There are few women on this forum but not many. So welcome. We need photos of your car.

I should add that I am a relative noob here (only since Oct. 2016) (but I have owned Mopars in the past: 1955 Dodge (1967-72), 68 Fury I 318 (72-79), and 1985 Plymouth Caravelle cop car (1987-90). And now my 56 Dodge (My dad had a 47 Dodge, the 55 Dodge, a 65 Plymouth Fury III, a 1972 Fury I 360, a 1975 Chrysler Windsor 400 and a 1975 Plymouth Gran Fury 440 wagon - so I've been around Mopars pretty much all my life one way or the other). As a noob, I have asked lots of dumb questions. Sometimes, got answers.

As for "Silver Lion", I doubt it. Golden Lion yes, Silver ? ...certainly nothing in these:

Hi Gail, it's very simple - the silver (chromed) lion has been gold plated but the gold color has been worn and polished away with the years.

There's only golden lion which in turn is the Engine name

I did a search on "1961 Chrysler New Yorker Sedan 413", i.e. what should be "Golden Lion" cars and found several images of "silver" lions on the door chrome. I think originally they were probably gold-plated or anodized etc but that has worn off with time. So on that basis, I think your car is a "Golden Lion" car.

Yes, they were originally gold, like the wheelcover centers.
Being aluminum, they were anodized to the gold color, which
has faded/worn off. There is a great anodizing outfit here in
Spokane that can make them look like new again. Quite
reasonably priced, if you are used to what chrome plating can
cost.

Rabbit B,

There are several aluminum pieces on your 61 that should be gold but have probably faded and look very silver. That was the case on several pieces of my 61 NYer. Attached are pictures of what they should look like - these were re-anodized gold after being taken off the car. Nice to see someone from the Columbia River Gorge since I am located at the West end. Good luck with your 61.
