Also shown is the glove box lid that opens fully for to allow the cup holder function, (@ 15.01) which didn't make it to the production cars since there was a big risk of hitting the knees and tipping the cups into the glove box.
You can see the sloppy carpet in this video too - there's a fold over the hump.

My glove box door Does fully open all the way down to allow cups to sit on it. My car is early production ( Oct 29, 1959) so obviously some early production cars got the full opening glove box. My ex-1962 Chrysler 300 had only the partial opening glove box door.

Very interesting Ian, this is the first car I've seen that on - I stand corrected happily for yet another part of the puzzle.
My car is produced the 10th of February and have the glove box door that doesn't open up all the way.

This clearly proves that the glove box lid that opens fully for to allow the cup holder function made in to the production cars but was modified somewhere between November and January.

So, now to the function, how does it work Ian - are there any risks of hitting the door with the knees and tipping the drinks into the glovebox?
I'm curious because I thought of modifying my glove box door to this function.

I moved these posts to a new thread so that this information will be found easier.

Location: Victoria, BC, on Vancouver Island, Canada		When the glove box door is all the way down, my knees don't hit it, but the seat is almost all the way to the rear position.

Another anomaly is that my kick panels made out of cardboard instead of pressed steel. They also have the extension of the aluminum trim on the bottom, where the pressed steel kick panels don't have the trim.
