Gang, I've been very quiet about the production of this video, just released today. Check it out if you have a chance. BTW, the car REALLY doesn't look as good in person as in the video!

Very cool, Ed!  Your car looks and sounds fantastic!  Who is this Ed Ligo fella?  It was nice of you to let him motor around like that.

At one point, I almost said aloud "Holy Smokes!  Don't drive Ed's car off the road!"

Surprisingly good video of a great car. I love the look of a '57 Chevy too, but I definitely would have bought a forwardlook from '57 as well - probably a '57 New Yorker. It really is amazing how well these cars handle once you put stiffer rear springs on them. Much better than anything from GM or Ford for a long time afterward.

Best automobile video I’ve seen. I may be biased though since I’m a DeSoto guy.

Thanks for the memories.

Sweet video.

I'm sending this to ALL my ferd and chivvy mates.

Thanks for sharing. An excellent summary of why these cars are so good, and why we are all on this website.

Steve.

I like Joe Ligo's documentaries, they are very accurate and very well done. His channel (Auto Moments) is one of the very few I have bookmarked.

It is refreshing to see a little different perspective on the cars of this era while getting all the facts correct. I really enjoyed that!

57 --
A great video for a great (and I do mean GREAT!) car! In my salad days, I pumped gas in my dad's filling station and one of our regular customers had a black/gold '57 and it was absolutely magnificent. I envy you.
Some comments on the video:
- The 300C and the Adventurer shared the same basic body shell, so their weights are approximately the same. In fact, I experience the same fueling problems on my 300C as I did with our customers Adventurer as it is so difficult to avoid raw gas backing up the filler tube as the tank reaches full capacity. How can I forget, "Joe, watch that pump just before the tank gets full."
- Back in 1956/57, there were still only 48 states and quad headlights were not legal in all of them. My "C" originally from Montana had just duals as the quad set-up was added by the dealer some time in 1958. I do have the original two headlight set-ups. That's why Dodges and Plymouths had only two headlights in '57.
- Chevy got a lot of publicity for their one horsepower per cubic inch 283 in 1957, which was an option on the bowties, but the 345 HP/345 CID Hemi was the standard engine on the Adventurer. What the heck, the optional 355 horse 354 of the 300B also is ignored.
- It is interesting the saddlebag air cleaners are silenced. One would think a car like that would have the unsilenced types like the Fury and 300C.
- The fin effect may well have been a marketing ploy, but supposedly wind tunnel tests were performed on the '60 Plymouth at the University of Pittsburgh that indicated that they increased the stability of car by 17% (in relation to what?).
- I love the way the exhaust exits above the bumper, but I understand how it affects the metal and I appreciate why you changed it . But the concept was neat indeed. I wonder if Exner got the idea from Corvette?
You truly have a great car and I say again, I do envy you.

Great looking video! It's good to see the De Soto getting the love and respect it deserves. I never would have boght a 1957 Chebby myself if I had been old enough to buy a new car in 1957 - I would have gone for the Forward Look everytime. Imperial, Chrysler 300C, or De Soto Adventurer were the pinnicle of the design that year.

Again, thanks to all! The video has been watched almost 9000 times, and only about 5 of them are me!!! (Actually, I saved it to my hard drive, so my views only account for perhaps 3 times.) Tom, it was MY pleasure to meet you, and some day, perhaps, I can see your fantastic car "in person".
