Subject: 1963 imperial spedo

Hey guys not sure where to put this so here it is. I recently took the autopilot off my imperial and replaced the spedo cable with one off a car with no autopilot of course. So now the problem is that the spedo starts at zero and goes to 100 like nothing. So what I getting at is there a reduction gear in the autopilot itself cause i counted the teeth on the cable and the were the same. Not sure where the problem lies any help out there.
