Who is well educated on the 57 D500?
I've been working on getting my NY found D500 running again and noticed when I pulled my radiator out to flush it, I look down to see that my car was never fitted with a front sway bar!, My body code is 2546 so it is a D500 Coronet Lancer..Anyone else come across a 57 D500 without the sway bar fitted???
My other 2 D500's do have the sway bar...I was of the understanding it was standard issue with the Hemi engine

The d500 isn't a package like what you got with the 300, fury, and adventurers i.e. limited edition vehicle with a hot rod drivetrain, suspension and brake system. The d500 ONLY designates the motor.

Correct. The only Coronets that got sway bars were converts regardless of D500.

All Dodge wagons also were equipped with the sway bars.

Based on 1958 evidence, i.e. LD2 (Royal) and LD3 (Custom Royal) got sway eliminators (aka "sway bars"), there was no LD1 (Coronet) listings. So that might have been the case in 1957 as well, regardless of the engine (seems very strange but....).

That looks like a bolt on rig. Has anyone ever seen one of those?! Did any 58 Dodge leave the factory with a sway bar?

My '58 Windsor (the LC1 listed above), which is like a Dodge, had a sway bar; but it used the typical welded brackets on the frame. I think the picture above is a generic representation, and probably from a '55 Chrysler?

frames all had those "slots" cut in for sway bars, they are on my royal. 57 dodge without sway bar.

I would assume they cut them in all frames "just in case", never seen a bolt on in a 57 car.

I haven't checked the Plymouth but its probably the same.

That was a 57 thing Mike. I don't remember seeing a 58 Dodge frame with those "slots". Wish I had. I would have used it with a sway bar for my Regal. My car even with the 956/7 torsion bars would benefit from a sway bar! That would put it into 501 territory!

No. I don't think any Plymouths 57/58 had sway bars. Not sure though. Maybe wagons?!

I agree. My '58 Coronet doesn't have anything there, and really could benefit from a sway bar as well! It's going to get the one off the '58 Windsor transplanted onto it. According to the chart above, the '57 S27 Plymouth (whatever that is) received the swaybar, but nothing for '58. Note that ALL '55-'56 Dodges and Plymouths had sway bars, but they got cheapened in ''57. Weird.

Umm...P and LP = Plymouths. S and LS = Desoto. S27 = 57 FireSweep (122 in wheelbase = Dodge chassis).

True, it seems they don't specify which Plymouth in '57

If you read the parts list carefully, you will note Sub. I believe this stands for suburban, which I think stands for all Plymouth wagons and they also had the sway bars.
