I haven't seen any or any photos of 61 Newports with swivel seats. They were way less common in the 1961 Chryslers. I do know that the vinyl interior was standard on the Newport convertibles, this would be the standard vinyl bench seat pattern. The swivels would have the folding armrest section in the middle between the 2 outboard seats.

I don't think swivel seats were available on anything but 300-G in 1961 Chrysler.

I know of at least 4 New Yorkers with swivel seats, and at least one of them is an all original car.

I stand corrected. I looked and there is an option code for it. Must be really rare!

Swivel seats were only available on convertibles in the Newport line.

This 61 New Yorker 4 door hardtop with swivels is an un-restored car. I first assumed you meant swivels ONLY on Newport converts and not any other 61s at all, so I apologize in advance if you meant on Newports - convertibles only not sedans etc.

The swivel seats was available on the '61, but the automatic swivel seats was only mounted on the '60 models.
Most probably due to bad quality of the torsion springs, cables and hardware.

The A-pillar in the '61 cars doesn't have the recessions necessary for to mount the torsion springs and hardware, which indicates that the decision to discontinue the automatic swivel seats must have been taken perhaps already early 1960.

Wow! Thanks for posting those photos. I have never seen that configuration.

For the record, the 1961 order form states:

"SWIVEL SEATS Custom Manual (Newport Conv., New Yorkers, Except Wagon) (Std. 300G)"

A dealer price list I have, which has been reliable, says the option cost $86.50
