It is correct because it isn't possible to match the secondary number to the VIN on a '68 without the build sheet. Secondary VIN inspections are all just smoke and mirrors for cars before 1970 to try and scare people. But if the 2 secondaries don't match each other, they might have a case to say something. But for these early cars, the secondary VIN, if it has one, is located on the frame. Sometimes it was lightly stamped, sometimes painted on there, and sometimes not put on there at all. Good luck finding it, and if you do find it, good luck reading it.
I don't know what state you are in, but definitely California doesn't require finding the secondary VIN on vehicles before 1970. If someone tells you otherwise, they are clueless. Insist on talking with someone else and having them look it up on the books. |
