Subject: question about the bump in the rear fender - 1960 Chrysler

What is this recession in the circle (picture) for? Is it for the rear bumper or an evidence of an accident? At the drivers side this recession is only barely visible.

Thanks a lot for your answers. Prior I visited the thread about the white 300 F co from Texas. At the primered body I noticed the same marking at the drivers side. So I asked you, because I couldn‘t answer myself.
