Hi,I have been trying to find a fuel sender for my 1960 Fury. There dont seem to be many options available.

I have seen some on ebay advertised as fitting 1960 & 1961 "B" body cars (the sellers description, not mine) the seller states they fit 60-61 Belvedere,Fury,Savoy as well as Dodge Dart series & Matador and Polara. My question is has anyone here tried one of these to verify the do fit correctly and read accurately? here is the item number on ebay 221185292706

Its also my understanding there were two tank sizes available for the 1960 Plymouths. A 20 gallon tank and an optional 23 gallon size. I am assuming most of these cars have the 20 gallon style and more than likely that is the size my car has,but wondered if anyone here may be able to tell me how to identify which size tank my car has, short of my draining it completely dry and then filling it up.

Thanks!

FSM (factory service manual) lists two tanks; 20 gallons and 22 gallons. The 22 gallon tank was offered only in the Suburban wagon and has a totally different location and geometry compared to the rest of the body styles.

I ordered part number S-61IMP from the website below for my 1960 Plymouth. It fits, it doesn't leak and my gauge reads properly. Note that the website says its for a 23 gallon tank (like you also stated), which doesn't exist according to the FSM.

The 23 Gallon tank was optional and exchanges with 122" wb Chrysler and Desoto. If you install a 23 gallon tank in a 60 Plymouth, you need the longer straps from a 60/61 Desoto or Chrysler.

Thank you for your reply "1960fury". So there was a 23 gallon tank option for Plymouth then? interesting. I would assume that would be very rare right? Was that an option for Plymouths used for taxi and police work,or could it be ordered on any 1960?

I have used that reproduction tank and sender as well in my phoenix with no drama at all except
I also got the special tool for the sender retainer and it didn't fit because the retainer has 1 larger tang

Not a problem though, I ground out the slots enough so the large tang fitted

The tool is worthwhile as it makes tightening the sender much easier and your more likely to get it all
seated correctly than tapping the retainer around with a hammer and chisel

I believe all the suppliers of those tanks buy from the same manufacturer and use basically the same description.

I had no problems fitting it, although, as I said, it was for my dodge and the tank is actually a Plymouth tank, so
the filler neck is actually wrong for a dodge, but it didn't make a real difference, just put the opening about 1 1/2" further in behind the bumper

Thanks for sharing that link for the senders... any idea why they have two different styles for a 57 Imperial? They mention a direct wire style and a post style.... what's the difference?

I don't know the difference from that site, but my experience with the same thing sold by Vans is that the direct wire style has the correct 210 ohm resistance range, while the post style is the smaller 75 ohm range. I know that '57-'59 used the 210 ohm, but I don't know if any forwardlook used the 75ohm version. But otherwise, why do they sell it?? I have two of those 75 ohm versions that I can't use if anyone wants one.
